NYC MARKET GUIDEA S P E C I A L A D V E R T I S I N G S E C T I O N T O G I F T S & D E C O R A T I V E A C C E S S O R I E S

With the unique, comprehensive format of the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) – and the collaborative efforts of

the permanent showroom buildings Forty One Madison, 7 W New York and 230 Fifth Avenue – the NY Market is a “must attend” for all retailers. Designed to offer visitors a greater number of buying resources, educational opportunities and special events – while celebrating the verve and vitality of its host city – the winter 2011 NY Market will run Friday, January 28, through Thursday, February 3, 2011.

As the nation’s premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace, the NYIGF features 2,800 exhibiting companies that showcase an extraordinary breadth and depth of design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 85 countries worldwide are expected at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94. Vast and impressive, NYIGF is unsurpassed among U.S. home and gift markets in terms of volume, style a nd sophistication.

At the winter 2011 show, first-phase implementation of a three-year strategic reorganization continues, with expansions in new divisions and continued refinement of existing categories. Highlights include expansion of Baby & Child to present some 150 suppliers of wearables, accessories, toys, games, publishers

and furnishings for children 0-10; expansion of New York’s Newest at Pier 92 to showcase some 250 newcomers to the New York market and the industry at large; further refinements to Handmade® Designer Maker and Handmade®Global Design; and expansion of the “Stationery and Publishers” neighborhood. For more information, visit www.nyigf.com.

Throughout market week, nearly 30 educational seminars and social events will offer added value for market participants. Among these are instructional sessions on social media, fair trade, sustainability, home and color trends, marketing and retail strategies. After-hours industry and networking functions include “Party for Life,” Gift For Life’s Annual Fundraiser on Sunday, January 30, and “A Night on Broadway” featuring 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS on Tuesday, February 1.

In an exclusive NY Market appearance, retailer Ryan O’Meara, a former professional ice dancer who competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics, will star in an exclusive on-ice performance on Saturday, January 29, at CitiPond at Bryant Park. Through the cooperation of NYIGF, 7 W New York, Forty One Madison and 230 Fifth Avenue, market participants can enjoy VIP FastPass admission and free skate rental at CitiPond for this event and throughout winter 2011 Market Week.

7 W New York and its 10 floors of showrooms will offer a first-class buying experience with a

number of special events and amenities during the upcoming Gift & Home Textiles Market Week® (January 28-February 3). On January 28, buyers can take part in Shop 7 W First, which consists of a day full of activities and extras specifically designed for shoppers who want to beat the crowds. Saturday Twilight Shopping will take place from 4 to 6pm on January 29, where refreshments will be served throughout the showrooms. The Winter Wonderland on Monday, January 31 allows buyers to shop until 8pm, with after hours events providing attendees with a fun-filled atmosphere in which to find their must-have items. Food, drink, a holiday prize wheel and entertainment will enhance the evening.

Each market day, 7 W New York sponsors its Holiday Shopping Stroll, with showrooms and temporary exhibitors that sell seasonal décor offering perks and special amenities, as well as a building-sponsored grand prize gift box at the end of the market. Daily prize drawings, in-suite events, complimentary lunch vouchers and transportation vouchers round out the 7 W market experience. Visit www.7wnewyork.com for complete information.

At Forty One Madison, 30 of the building’s gift-focused showrooms are preparing for a strong NY Market Week, with several new showroom openings of special interest to gift buyers: ARDA Glass, Guzzini, Salt & Pepper and Stelton. They join other prestige brands such as Eisch Crystal, Fitz & Floyd, Jay Imports, Lenox, L’Objet, Mottahedeh, Nambe, Portmeirion, Prima Donna, Reed & Barton, Tervis Tumbler, Villeroy & Boch, William Yeoward and Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton. Further information can be found at www.41madison.com.

230 Fifth Avenue is also energized for the upcoming 2011 market season, with a significant portion of its distinctive showrooms expanding rapidly. visiting them during the shows, and that they consider their market experiences amazing,” says Creative Marketing Director Matthew Aloisi.“This encourages the exhibitors to spend more money enhancing their presentations with more square footage.”

Determined to offer visitors “a story from the time they walk in until the time they leave,” Aloisi works hard to make the 230 Fifth Avenue experience one to remember. “Every show, no matter how big or small, offers the same special features and amenities,” he explains. Theseinclude free transportation, valuable giveaways such as tote bags and umbrellas, vouchers for free breakfast and lunch, chocolate treats, free massage services, and a number of great dining options.
