O-Bahn City Access Project Hackney Road Intersection with Park Terrace 31 March 2016 Dear Stakeholder, The O-Bahn City Access Project builds on the State Government’s significant investment in building a stronger public transport network and its commitment to delivering the best possible outcome for our great city. Hackney Road forms part of the strategically important Inner Ring Route of Adelaide, intended to provide reliable cross-city travel without the need to pass through the City. The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) acknowledges feedback from the community on the proposal to permanently ban the right turn from Hackney Road into Park Terrace at all times. DPTI is committed to working with key stakeholders and the local community, whilst ensuring that road safety can be improved. In response to community feedback two alternative options are currently being considered. The options being considered and illustrated in the enclosed plan, include:

• Option 1 - Maintain the existing right turn from Hackney Road into Park Terrace in off peak times only and extending the vehicle storage area within this right turn lane to accommodate at least one additional vehicle. This right turn would be banned during the morning and evening peak periods to minimise the risk of queued vehicles impacting the new northbound priority bus lane along Hackney Road.

• Option 2 - Construct a roundabout at the junction of Bundeys Road and War Memorial Drive, allowing vehicles travelling north along Hackney Road to turn left into Bundeys Road and undertake a u-turn at the new roundabout, continuing straight through the traffic lights to Park Terrace. Note: This option would require approval from the Adelaide Park Lands Authority and Adelaide City Council.

As a member of the Gilberton community, we would like to invite you to have your say. To do this, please complete the enclosed feedback form and return it to the Project Team, by Tuesday 19 April 2016. You can send your completed form to us in the post using the reply paid envelope provided or email your completed form to [email protected]. Please note that these are the only options being considered. All feedback will be taken into consideration and you will be advised which option will be progressed. The O-Bahn City Access Project Team will continue to liaise with the Town of Walkerville, Adelaide City Council and the local community as the project progresses. Further information about the O-Bahn City Access Project, can be found at: www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/public_transport_projects/o-bahn_city_access. Kind regards, O-Bahn City Access Project Team

O-Bahn City Access Project Hackney Road Intersection with Park Terrace

Feedback Form

In response to community feedback on the proposal to permanently ban the existing right turn from Hackney Road into Park Terrace at all times, two alternative options are currently being considered. The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure is committed to working with key stakeholders and the local community.

We would like invite you to have your say by indicating your preference below (tick preferred option).

Option 1 - Maintain the existing right turn from Hackney Road into Park Terrace in off peak times only and extend the vehicle storage area within this right turn lane to accommodate at least one additional vehicle. This right turn would be banned during the morning and evening peak periods to minimise the risk of queued vehicles impacting the new northbound priority bus lane along Hackney Road.

Option 2 - Construct a roundabout at the junction of Bundeys Road and War Memorial Drive, allowing vehicles travelling north along Hackney Road to turn left on to Bundeys Road and undertake a u-turn at the new roundabout, continuing straight through the traffic lights to Park Terrace. Note: This option would require approval from the Adelaide Park Lands Authority and Adelaide City Council.

Please return your completed form to the Project Team by COB Tuesday 19 April 2016. You can do this by using the Reply Paid envelope provided (no postage stamp required) or by emailing it to [email protected].

All feedback will be taken into consideration and you will be advised which option will be progressed.
