Happenings at our Servite CenterOur Fall programs began in September with the gathering at the new Healing Rain Garden for a time of reflectionand prayer. The participants enjoyed the beauty of this space and were invited to come to spend time for quiet andpersonal reflection. The nearby Labyrinth and Medicine Wheel also provide a space for personal time with naturein prayer.

In October, an enthusiastic group of crafters gathered to learn the art of makingNo-Sew Ornaments under the direction of Jenny Weber. The allotted time wentall too quickly, so several crafters remained extra time to complete the project. There is great interest in making more ornaments as a fund raising project for onegroup.

Members of the Lakeview MedicalCenter Hospice Team gave an excellentpresentation about Hospice Care and its importance and availability in theLadysmith area. Participants shared experiences with Hospice Care and receivedprofessional answers to questions and concerns. We are grateful for thisopportunity to learn more about this caring presence for the dying.

Members of the Prayer Shawl Group beganmeetings again in September. Several shawlswere completed over the summer months.Comments from recipients are encouraging withwords of appreciation such as, “ When wearingthe prayer shawl I can feel the love and healingprayers that you put into it.”

Our winter programs will focus on DVDpresentations to take advantage of professionalpresentations for learning and spiritual growth. Please join us for these interesting topics.

In RemembranceWe remember with gratitude the services of

Sister Mary Pat Hill, OSM to our Servite Center for Life over many years.

Sister Mary Pat died on August 14, 2016 after dealing withcancer for a number of years. We will miss her services asmanager of the SCL website and her work in the design and

set up of the SCL Newsletter. Sister Mary Pat was instrumental in the beginnings of the Center in 1994 as the

first administrator. She continued her interest and support through the past years.

Thank you, Sister Mary Pat. Your caring touch lives on in the work you created.

May God’s joy and peace be with you.
