Born on August 4, 1961 in Hawaii

His mother : Ann Dunham, a white American from Kansas

His father : Barack Obama, Sr., a black man in Kenya.

Raised by a single mother and grandparents from rural Kansas.

Grew up with an “international upbringing”, four years spent living in Indonesia after his mother remarried.

He used to tell his mom that he wanted to be president of the United States someday.

Later, He returned to Honolulu(檀香山 ) and graduated from high school in 1979.

He then transferred to New York City, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983.

In 1985, Obama moved to Chicago, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods.

In 1991, he went on to earn his law degree from Harvard, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review.

Soon after, he turned down lucrative job returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law.

In a short period of 12 years(1996-2008), Obama has changed from a “Nobody” to a “President”.

USA is a country where"all things are possible" with hard work, sacrifice and perseverance, and where anyone can grow up to be president.

His life story, while far from typical, represents the realization of the American dream .
