Why do we need to have badge sharing features in OBF?


Different approaches and needs

• Not all organisations have the expertise and resources to create valuable badges and badge systems

• Some organisations are interested in designing badges, but not in issuing them

• Some want to issue badges, but are not interested in designing them

• Some organisations are part of networks and for them, badges have to be recognised by other organisations to have value


Some use cases

• Organisation A has developed a valuable badge system that it can share with similar organisations (for example schools, military, etc.)

• Organisation A creates badges to be issued by authorised contractors, partners or vendors to their target groups (IT-companies, franchising networks, trademark holders, etc.)

• Several highly networked organisations (associations, school networks) collaborate to design badges for their common needs
