In last month’s edition of the Main Sheet I reported on a number of items that were in the works. One of the items was a reconsideration of the policy on the use of the club by members. This policy included the pricing of such uses. After hearing from members at the All Member Meeting, the Board took the following action: Any member may have free use of the club for meetings of 12 or fewer persons (members and / or non members) as long as the club is left as it was found and the meeting is properly scheduled. Scheduling is handled by the Food and Beverage committee and schedules are
placed on the large calendar at the bar.
The large slash pine tree near the edge of the Palmetto Bay parking lot has been removed. The tree was infested with pine bark beetles and had died. In addition to the hazard of a dead tree, pine bark beetle infestation tends to spread to other nearby trees and could have multiplied the problem.
The parking lot has been repaired, resurfaced and restriped. Also, the existing parking lot handicap ramp has been improved to meet the town code. The lot is safer, looks great and adds to the appeal of our club. We thank Sonny Compher for arranging for and supervising the parking lot improvements and the tree work.
In the next month the Board will be taking a look at proposals to update our website and to make it more user friendly to members and others who visit the site. More on this in coming editions.

What a Great Time!
The pool party was well attended with 20 members. I would like to thank Frances, our "Commodorable", and her daughter, Mandy, for hosting this in their home. After a refreshing dip in the pool, we enjoyed the potluck lunch at poolside.
Our newest members, Jean Hillenbrand and Linda Pekarski were introduced to the members. It was good to see Andrea Shotz again after her recent surgery.

Bartenders for September
The Ship’s Store
Check out the Ship’s Store by Betty Bush
As for now, I have just gotten 'boat bags' in two sizes and a great quality that you simply can not be without! Also I have attractive, adjustable aprons that are suitable for men or women and have the Yacht Club's logo embroidered on them. Stop by the store. It is open every Friday evening.
Y'ALL COME BACK NOW!
Hello from the Ship’s Store
The fall The Flying Scot racing season starts September 22 and 23
After taking the summer off, the Flying Scots have scheduled eight race days for the fall.
September 22, 23
October 6, 7 This is the SCYC Ocean Challenge weekend.
October 13, 14 This is the YCHHI Calibogue Cup and HTC weekend
November 10, 11
December 1, 2
*NOTE There was discussion at our last fleet meeting of adding another October race day(s) on the weekend October 28/29 this might act as supplement or makeup. I will canvas the fleet and send out a updated schedule if the change is agreed to by the majority of the fleet
The race area will be in the Calibogue Sound off Brahms Point or in Broad Creek The first warning signal will be 11:00 each race day
*Any changes to the schedule and/or race times for the upcoming weekend will be sent to the fleet via email and posted at the YCHHI by Friday at 17:00 Fleet race rules (SIs) and scoring methodology can be found in the YCHHI directory
Fleet news • Wexford YC used two of our FS for their junior program this summer.
Mark Dryden was pleased with the boats and his students. Nothing broke and the boats are in great shape but could use some bottom cleaning
• Wexford has agreed to let our fleet work out of their harbor again this fall
• Deb Pepe donated an over the boom cover to the YC fleet and it is now beautifully appoints the white YCHHI boat at Wexford
• The YCHH blue boat is in the lot and ready to go. The red boat is still a work in progress.
• Hap Todd is working on one of the YCHHI scot trailers but we are still down one trailer as the blue boat is on mine!
• Henry Schultz says he has a ringer coming to crew with him this fall! That person also might be interested in joining the fleet independent of Henry. Encourage him!!
