The Octagon Music Society is part of the CAVATINA Ticket scheme and offers young people FREE tickets, subsidised by the CAVATINA CHAMBER MUSIC TRUST. Any child or young person under 26 can gain FREE entry just by signing the form at the front ticket table.

Octagon Music, in its 36th season, presents one of the widest ranges of chamber music concerts offered by any Music Society. Our aim is to present a broad spectrum of music played by top class artists and we have built a reputation for choosing young performers of great promise who have gone on to distinguished careers. We encourage our audiences to be adventurous in their musical tastes so we hope the programme offers something for everybody and the opportunity to try something new. The Clarendon Muse is ideal for chamber music, with excellent acoustics - “the best north of the Wigmore Hall”. There are ample parking facilities and level access.

The Endellion String Quartet is arguably the finest Quartet in Britain today but it also has an international reputation with regular world wide tours. “There’s always a feeling when listening to the Endellion Quartet that you’re listening to the Urtext method of quartet playing. Maybe 35 years of playing together has brought to them as a group a

uniformity of thought and instinct that allows them to play as a single entity.” (The Gramophone)

Hannah last performed for us in 2008 and she performed so superbly that we have invited her back. She has become an ambassador for her instrument, often

(Supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust) Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata Bruch: Kol Nidrei Phibbs: Sonatine (2011) Chopin: Cello Sonata Jessie is establishing herself at the forefront of young instrumentalists here and all over Europe, both as a soloist and as a founding member of the renowned Piatti String Quartet who played for us in 2014. Her accompanist, Simon Callaghan, is recognised as an exciting performer of the new generation.
