about the tragedy that took place in Ottawa and
Quebec Click here to read the whole blog
It is hard to make sense of the tragic deaths of two military men
Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent- in
Ottawa and Quebec We convey our condolences to the families of
these two men
There is ongoing discussion to try to understand the reasons for
such killings The mother of Michael Zehaf ndashBibeau told the media

unknown how or who helped them to convert It seems that both
had been persuaded to use violence as a means to fight what they
perceived as injustices
As Canadian Muslims we are fearful We share with all fellow
Canadians the fear of violence amongst us and in addition we are
fearful of the proposed new legislation to combat ldquohome grown
terrorismrdquo and its focus on Muslims
We are very concerned that these legislations may dismantle civil
liberties and core principles of justice on which we rely so heavily to
protect our rights
The issues around terrorism have spawned an incredible amount of
academic research and writing but there is no universal consensus
about the definition of either radicalization or terrorism
