Dear Members,
October 6, 2020 Member Meeting via ZOOM. We will start with the beginner
class at 5:00 pm ET (adjust for your personal time zone), followed by the
intermediate class at 6:00 pm ET and then the member meeting at 7:00 pm ET. 5
minutes before the section you wish to join click on the link you received in your
email which will take you to ZOOM. Do not worry if you are placed in a waiting
room before the host begins. If you did not receive an email, check your SPAM
and/or call the office to correct your email. You may enter the ZOOM at any
point during this 3 hr evening event using the same link.
It is time to submit nominations for the 2021 Board officers (president, vice-
president, secretary, treasurer) and directors (5). Linda Corrick will coordinate
this year’s nominations. You may nominate yourself or someone else (with their
permission). Please send nominations via email to: [email protected] with the subject line as “2021 Board Nominations”. This is a great opportunity to get
more involved in CCCGC.
The Office is open Monday thru Friday, 10 a.m.—2 p.m. only. At this point all
members must: a) call ahead, b) enter through the Cultural Center front door,
c) wear a mask and d) will be checked for temperatures. So, if you are bringing
in equipment that you cannot personally carry to the office, someone will meet
you at the door with the cart if you let us know when you call ahead.
Please watch the website and your emails for update information. If you call the
office, please leave a message including your name and phone number. Messages
are checked daily.
We continue to have refurbished desktop computers (fully updated Win10,
monitor, keyboard and connecting wires) that we are offering to members only for
a reduced price of $50. If you want one of these computers, send an email to:
[email protected] labeled “$50 Computer”. This is a first-come-first-served
offer while they last.
In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy.

On September 1, 2020 CCCGC held its first meeting since March due to the pandemic. We attempted to use ZOOM and though we
experienced some difficulties, we appreciate those who made an effort to plow through and join us at various times throughout the
3.5-hour event from the beginner class at 5:00 pm to the feedback session at 8:00 pm.
5:00 pm beginner Zoom—3 members attended this event led by George Kopenec for technology beginners
6:00 pm intermediate Zoom—14 members attended this event led by Dick Evans
7:00 pm Member meeting Zoom—23 participants attended this event led by both George Kopenec and Dick Evans
8:00 pm feedback session—
In an effort to keep some of the usual patterns of our member meetings, we began the 7:00 pm meeting with
the Pledge of Allegiance followed by awarding the Volunteer of the Month as Jim Bridges who has been with the
club for many, many years and assist in the tear-down room. He often takes things home to work from there
in an effort to get more done.
George Kopenec then shared the “monthly favorites” for September entitled “Everything Search”. This is a link to speedily find anything on
your computer in case you have forgotten where you stored, saved and/or created it.
We then moved into the main presentation given by Dick Evans on Photo Scanning using a program entitled “ScanSpeeder”. There is a free
program option or a paid version. Both will allow you to scan single or groups of photos at one time as well as edit, crop, label and other
things.

To round off the event event we held the “free” raffle using the names of the 23 participants. The following members were the lucky
winners for the evening.

At 8:00 pm George Kopenec led a feedback session for anyone wishing to put in their “2 cents” on the evening’s experience as well as offer recommendations for future events.
All in all, though we had hoped for a larger number of members joining us, we are celebrating the fact that we are moving toward trying
new technology since we are a COMPUTER club.
Thank you to all who forged ahead in trying this and we look forward to see you and more in future months.

Upcoming Board of Directors Nomination & Election Information
Nominations for positions on the Board of Directors are open NOW and until November 15. If you wish to
nominate yourself or another member (with their permission) for any of the positions listed below, please
contact Linda Corrick who is coordinating this year’s nominations. Please send nominations via email to:
[email protected] with the subject line as “2021 Board Nominations”. In the body of the email be sure to
state the position and the name of the nominee. This is a great opportunity to get more involved in CCCGC.
Elections will take place at the December 1, 2020 meeting from 6:00—7:00 p.m.
FYI—the Board meetings occur every last Friday of each month.

Position descriptions/responsibilities (per ByLaws.8.7.2018):
President: The President will be the Chief Executor Officer of the Corporation and will, along with the, Directors and
other elected officers supervise and control the affairs of the Corporation. The President will perform all duties incident to
the office and other such duties as may be provided in the Bylaws or prescribed by the Board of Directors...The President
shall, as vacancies occur, appoint chairpersons of committees considered necessary at the time. The President may from
time to time appoint committee chairs for such purposes as he or she may deem necessary, or as directed by a majority
vote of the Board of Directors.
Vice President: The Vice President shall perform all duties and exercise all powers of the President when the President is
absent or unable to perform his duties. The Vice President shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the
Preside nt or the Board of Directors.
Secretary: The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors; will be the custodian of the
corporate records; give all notices as required by the Bylaws; perform all duties incident to the office of the Secretary and
such other duties as may be required by the Articles of Incorporation, the Bylaws, or which may be assigned by the Board
of Directors. The Secretary shall maintain a record of all the correspondence sent and received concerning agreements,
obligations, contracts and understandings between the Corporation and any other party. All Directors and Officers
involved with such correspondence shall provide a copy of it to the Secretary. In the event the President and Vice President
are unable or not available to conduct a Board meeting, the Secretary shall conduct the meeting. The Secretary shall
provide each Board member a current copy of the Bylaws at the first meeting of every new Board. The editor of the
newsletter and the chairperson of the Nomination Committee shall also be provided with copies. The Secretary shall
further assure that a copy of these Bylaws shall be on file at the corporation office.
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of all the funds of the Corporation; deposit said funds into the
Corporation’s account; maintain records of the Corporation’s transactions; perform all duties incident to the office of
Treasurer and such other duties as may be required by the Board of Directors, the Articles of Incorporation, and
theBylaws.
Director: A Director is a [sic] member elected to control or govern the affairs of Charlotte County Computer Group
Corporation.
