Breaking the Silence: Conversations about Mental Health
Join us Monday, October 15th from 6-7:30 pm in JTH as
speaker Katrina Robinson Wheeler presents about Mental
Health. What are common mental illnesses? What are treat-
ment options? How do we find the resources we need when
we need them? Light dinner will be served. Everyone who is
interested in Mental Health is welcome to attend—you did
not need to be at the first conversation.
First Café
Our menu this Wednesday features Beef and Pineapple
StirFry. After dinner our presentation will be from the En-
dowment Committee on preparing your will with attorney
Harrison Poole.
Book Club
First Presbyterian Book Discussion Group will be meeting
again Monday October 8th at 11:30 in the church library. We
will be reading the classic, "The Grapes of Wrath" by John
Steinbeck. Please contact Sue Wolford for more details or to
RSVP.
New Bible Study
The next Covenant Bible Study led by Pastor Julie is Monday,
October 8 and there is still room for you. Join us Monday at
6:00 pm in the Compass Conference room. If you have ques-
tions, speak with Pastor Julie.
Come Sing With Us
Do you enjoy singing Advent songs and Christmas carols?
Would you like to sing at the church's 160th anniversary on
November 18? Come sing with us on Wednesday nights at
6:15 p.m. as we begin to prepare for both events. No experi-
ence needed, just a desire to make a joyful noise! See Gabi
or Arthur Ross for details.
Fall Festival
We are a month away from our Fall Festival with the Meth-
odist Church. The date has been moved away from the Flor-
ida-Georgia Weekend to November 3rd from 10a.m.-1p.m.
in the street between our two churches. Look for the sign
up sheets in JTH through out October. If you do not have a
Fall Festival Tshirt, please indicate the size you need. Don’t
miss the fun and fellowship as we welcome the community
to this free celebration of God’s glorious bounty! Come on
y’all! It’s fall!
Church Work Day
The Building & Grounds Committee invites all to participate
in a work day Saturday morning, October 20, 2018 at 8:30
AM. The work scheduled includes weeding, mulching, re-
placement plantings and sprinkler head repairs/
replacement. Additional work projects are being formulated
in preparation for our 160th.
160th Update
Stop number one on your campus tour will be the newly
renovated Alday Cottage. This will begin at 8:30 a.m., Sun-
day, November 18, 2018. We will dedicate the cottage, a
history of the cottage will be available and you will be able
to see what has been done. The Alday family will be joining
us. Next week you will learn about stop number two on
your campus tour.
Pastor Julie is away October 9-15th for study leave. She is traveling to New York City to catch up on the stack of books in her pile, plan for Bible Study, and visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the
