Welcome to the 2017 spring edition of the Sea Island Properties Newsletter. With the island so beautiful this time of year, we hope that you are enjoying the warm weather and all the wonderful outdoor activities that the Golden Isles have to offer.
We are off to an amazing start in 2017, as you will see from the chart below. We saw many positive signs in the 4th quarter of 2016 which we feel will result in a successful year for real estate sales in 2017. For example, the purchase of Sea Island by Mr. Philip Anschutz has brought tremendous stability and confidence about our future. He has placed Sea Island in a 100-year-family trust, ensuring that our genuine Southern hospitality, beautiful accommodations, and an extensive array of experiences will always adhere to the highest standards of excellence.
In the past year, we also saw the primary residential real estate market in most major cities experience low inventories in certain price ranges. This has resulted in property appreciation and an increase in equity which is freeing up monies for discretionary purchases. The elections are over, and while it is too early to determine the impact that the new administration will have, we hope to see positive changes in the economy which will boost the housing industry. And finally, we have seen a robust stock market run- up, which will enable folks to take monies off the table for other expenditures. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it was just announced that Sea Island is the only resort in the world to earn four Five-Star awards for nine consecutive years from Forbes Travel Guide. If you couple all this good news together, then the crystal ball for 2017 looks very positive for real estate.
Finally, we have just returned from the annual conference for Leading Real Estate Companies of the world and Luxury Portfolio, where we had the opportunity to showcase our listings and to pick up marketing and technology tips from our fellow members across the world. This is an outstanding network affiliation that benefits both our buyers and sellers.
