OAH responsibilities
Implement and administer grant programs (TPP and PAF)
Coordinate adolescent health initiatives across HHS
Communicate adolescent health information (website, resource centers)
Serve as the catalyst and convener of the national adolescent health agenda (Adolescent Health: Think, Act, Grow®- TAG)

The Need
Young fathers face: Financial hardship, Low education attainment, Poor health outcomes, and Employment challenges. But father involvement is associated with
positive child education outcomes. Children of teen mothers: ↓ School achievement ↑ Health problems ↑ Incarceration ↑ unemployment

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148) sections 10211- 10214
Authorized $25 million for each of fiscal years (FY) 2010 through 2019 to establish and administer the Pregnancy Assistance Fund to award competitive grants to States and Tribal entities to: Provide expectant and parenting teens, women, fathers, and their
families with a seamless network of supportive services;
Improve access to health care, child care, education, employment, concrete supports, and parenting supports; and,
Improve services for pregnant women who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Connecticut State Department of EducationScope of Service of Support for Pregnant and Parenting Teens (SPPT) Program In 6 cities, 28 high schools (including alternative schools) 400+ expectant and parenting mothers fathers and their
children served per year Approximately 80% of participants graduated or remained in
school each year <5% repeat pregnancies 98%+ of children up-to-date on well-child visits

New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Scope of Service of Pathways to Success In 3 New York City counties (Kings, Queens, and the Bronx) Partner with the City University of New York (CUNY) system, the
Living for the Young Family through Education (LYFE) program in high schools, and Public Health Solutions, a community-based organization.
Provide a seamless network of services including linkages to health care, early childhood education, academic supports, safe and stable housing, and healthy relationship education.
Build upon and promote existing public awareness resources such as NYS Parent Guide, NYSDOH website for resources, and Text4baby.
