Notes:

I. General: This survey does not contain all water reclamation projects operating in California. As information becomes available, it will be entered into the database. Readersare encouraged to contact the Office of Water Recycling with any information on missing projects or incorrect information presented. At this time, there is no record of use ofreclaimed water in the following counties: Alpine, Colusa, Glenn, Mariposa, Modoc, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Sutter, Trinity, and Yolo.

2. The primary source of information for most projects is a survey questionnaire from the Office of Water Recycling and filled out by local agencies. However, other sources ofinformation may be used if considered reliable. Examples would be documentation contained in loan application files, descriptions set forth in waste discharge permits,quantities contained in monitoring reports submitted to Regional Water Quality Control Boards, special reports published by agencies (e.g. Los Angeles County SanitationDistricts’ Annual Status Report on Reclaimed Water Use), notes based on discussions with agency staff, etc.

3. Name: The treatment plant name as reported by the agency is generally used. If the owning agency or reclaimed water purveyor is not apparent from the plant name, it isshown in parentheses following. Occasionally for reference a plant location is appended after the plant name and a hyphen. "STP" is appended to a proper name unlessanother generic plant type was designated. Refer to attachment for list of abbreviations.

4. Processes: All processes available for treatment are shown. In some cases some processes are used only for discharge or for some users. " * "designates that secondary orother treatment has been provided at another wastewater treatment plant. Refer to attachment for list of abbreviations.

5. Capacity and Flow: Average dry weather flow, in million gallons per day. Refer to attachment for conversion tables. "Unk" designates that amounts are unknown.

6. Annual Water Reuse: All amounts have been converted from million gallons to acre-feet (AF) and are rounded to the nearest whole amount. Users of less than 1.0 AF may bedropped. Refer to attachment for conversion tables. In-plant use and non-reclaimed blending or supplemental water amounts are not counted.

7. Water Price: Positive amounts shown indicate the retail amount paid by the user for the reclaimed water. Parentheses designate negative amounts to indicate the amount theuser is paid to take the reclaimed water. The amount shown applies to all listed users for the treatment plant unless otherwise indicated by showing a range of amounts.Ranges shown with both negative and positive limits indicate that users pay for reclaimed water in summer and are paid the amount shown in parentheses to take thereclaimed water in winter. An equivalent unit price per acre-foot of reclaimed water has been calculated where appropriate from charges per month, year, or acre of irrigatedland. An asterisk designates cases where the monies exchanged cover additional services or costs, such as land rental, and the value of the reclaimed water cannot bedetermined. "Unk" designates that no information is available.

8. Ending Period: The date shown indicates the last month of a 12 month period for which data are presented.

9. Reclaimed water is blended with other sources of water at some treatment plants. The reasons for blending may be for water quality improvement, augmenting supplycapacity in order to meet long term peak demands, or to utilize less expensive sources of water such as intermittent surface runoff. The treatment plants which have beenidentified as using blending are Michelson WRP, Muirlands WRP, Oso Creek WRP, and Water Factory 21 (Orange County); Pomona WRP and West Basin WRP - ROSystem (Los Angeles County, Walnut Valley WD); and E1 Estero WRF (Santa Barbara County). The annual use shown reflects only the amount that is reclaimed water.
