Dear Presidents/Friends, I take particular pleasuring in welcoming you to the first part of the 2018 WAKO European championships. Bratislava is a beautiful capital city and the facilities offered to us are first class. From 2020 we will have only one senior event every year, bringing together all the disciplines as it was in the past. The continued evolution of our sport

continues to manifest itself in Europe the heart of WAKO, it is important WAKO Europe continue to lead the way in this regard. This year we have undertaken a development program and are running disciplines to increase the level in countries that have the potential to grow. We have run camps in Spain and in the future we will be running camps in Romania and Switzerland. In 2019 we will for the first time be part of the EUSA University combat games in Zagreb, Croatia in July. This is a huge positive step for European Kickboxing being part of this event alongside three Olympic Sports ( Karate – WTF – Judo), it is very important each federation sends . I wish all athletes a safe and rewarding games, where a clean sport free from doping and manipulation, where fairness and friendship is promoted in all aspects of the championships. I wish you all a successful and safe championships.

HOW TO REACH BRATISLAVA You can arrive to Bratislava by plane, train, bus, car or by boat!

BY PLANE

BRATISLAVA AIRPORT (BTS)- There are direct flights to a number of destinations in Europe and a number of airlines operate their direct routes to Bratislava – RYANAIR, Pobeda, flydubai, Czech Airlines, Wizz Air,…Bratislava airport can be reached from the city centre in 15–20 minutes.

VIENNA-SCHWECHAT (VIE) AIRPORT- The airport at Vienna-Schwechat is only 40 kilometers west of Bratislava and Slovaks mainly use it for long-haul flights. It is one of the main gateways to Slovakia.

BY TRAIN

Bratislava connects to the main lines from Prague, Budapest, Vienna and various regions in Slovakia. Bratislava has two railway stations – the Main Station and Petržalka. The Main Station is well connected to the rest of the city via trams, buses or trolleybuses and you can get to the Old Town on foot in only 15 minutes.

BY BUS

Bratislava is also conveniently connected with many European cities via a network of bus lines. It has frequent service to the surrounding areas and also to other regions in Slovakia.

BY CAR

Bratislava is situated at the intersection of several important motorways. The distance to Prague is 330 km, Budapest 200 km and Vienna 65 km. If you are bringing your own car, you need to display a valid motorway tax sticker (known as ‘dialnicna znamka’), available at borders or petrol stations. The minimum validity period is ten days (costs around EUR 10).

Transportation between Bratislava Airport and the Official hotels can be added to the reservation for 10 EUR/person/1 way.

Transportation between Vienna Airport and the Official hotels can be added to the reservation for 25 EUR/person/1 way.

BRATISLAVA AIRPORT (BTS)- Bratislava airport can be reached from the city centre in 15–20 minutes. To the official hotels and sport hall is around 10-15 minutes.

IV. SPORT HALL HANT ARENA

ARENA, where will be WAKO championships held:

The HANT arena is well known for the inhabitants of Bratislava, the Pasienky sports hall is located on the current junction of the Trnava Route and Bajkalská Street since 1960. During its history it has been and continues to be the scene of many sporting and cultural events. There are regularly played matches of the domestic basketball and handball club Inter, as well as many sports and cultural events.

A sports hall with a capacity of 4,200 people is not only an integral part of Bratislava but also a sports stall that requires constant care. In the course of 2015, the management of the Association of Sports Clubs of Inter Bratislava started to modernize the interior spaces. Visitors to the hall currently have 3414 separate seats in perspective, including 255 seats in the VIP zone. Increased comfort for viewers is also provided by an expanded refreshment capacity or a sports café linked to newly renovated VIP rooms.

HANT arena hosted WAKO World kickboxing juniors and cadets championships in 2012 with more than 2000 participants.

Bratislava Castle The castle, on a hill above the old town, dominates the city of Bratislava. It features in the first written reference to the city, which appears in the Annals of Salzburg of 907, in association with a battle between Bavarians and Hungarians. In 2008, a comprehensive restoration project was launched which is expected to take five years. As a result, the interior is currently closed to visitors, but the exterior fortifications and their views over the Danube can still be accessed

UFO Observation Deck For any visitor to Bratislava, the UFO Observation Deck is one of the highlights. This open-deck observation tower – shaped like a UFO, hence its name – stands tall at 95 meters above ground level. In a city full of traditional architecture, the saucer-like UFO Observation Deck is a striking addition which can be spotted easily from a distance.

Devin Castle A national cultural monument, is located at the foot of a cliff above the confluence of the Danube and Morava Rivers. This strategically important site has been settled since the late Stone Age by a succession of groups, from the Celts to the Romans, the Goths to the Lombards, and many more. Slovak National Theatre Bratislava's opera house – known officially as the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre – is a Neo-Renaissance-style building opened in 1886 as the City Theatre, according to the design of Viennese architects F. Fellner and H. Helmer.

Old Town Hall (Stara Radnica) Old Town Hall (Slovak: Stará radnica) is a complex of buildings from the 14th century in the Old Town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is the oldest city hall in the country and it is one of the oldest stone buildings still standing in Bratislava, with the tower being built approximately in 1370.

St. Martin's Cathedral (Dom svateho Martina) The St Martin's Cathedral (Slovak: Katedrála svätého Martina) is a church in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bratislava. It is situated at the western border of the historical city center below Bratislava Castle. It is the largest and one of the oldest churches in Bratislava.

Franciscan Square The Franciscan Square constitutes a kind of contrast to the lively Main Square. Visitors find here a substantially quieter, almost private place encircled by ancient historical buildings. Its name is derived from one of the oldest churches in Bratislava – the Franciscan Church with a

monastery from the 13th century. Mirbach's Palace is an architectural landmark of the upper part of the Franciscan Square.

Grassalkovich Palace This rococo summer palace was built in 1760 for the chairman of the Hungarian Royal Chamber and advisor to Empress Maria Theresa, Count Anton Grassalkovich. The sumptuous house was a sought-after venue for aristocratic society events. The palace is now the official residence of the President of the Slovak Republic.

Blue Church The St. Elizabeth’s church built in the Art Nouveau style at the beginning of the 20th century is remarkable for the blue color of its façade made with attention to detail with often use of mosaic. It is a popular place for weddings and baptisms.

Michael's Gate (Michalska brana) The only preserved gate of the city fortification system dates back to the 14th century. The upper terrace of its 51- meter -high tower provides an enchanting view of the Bratislava Castle and the Old Town. The tower houses the Museum of Arms.

Primatial Palace (Primacialny Palac) A Classicist palace built in the 18th century in which the Peace of Pressburg was signed after Napoleon’s victory at the Battle of Austerlitz between the representatives of the French and Austrian emperors. The Palace houses a gallery depositing a unique collection of six English tapestries from the 17th century and also serves as the seat of the Mayor of Bratislava.

All REGISTRATION, WEIGH-IN & MEDICAL CONTROL, ACCREDITATION, CONTROL WEIGH-IN and COMPETITION will take place in main hotel Bratislava as indicated in the official information. Opening and closing times are mandatory to be respected by all countries.

All athlete registration must be done (only) online at www.sportdata.org. Registration online will be opened soon and must be completed by October 1st. No registrations will be accepted after this date.

VISA

In 2004, Slovakia has been a member of the EU. Visitors to Slovakia traveling from other EU countries, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland may travel using either a passport or a valid ID card. In 2007, Slovakia became part of the Schengen group of countries without border controls. A list of the countries whose citizens are required to have a visa can be found at: www.foreign.gov.sk

FLAG and NATIONAL ANTHEM

Each participating countries must bring 2 (two) fags, size 90 x 130 cm and a CD/pen-drive/portable drive with their National Anthem. The flag and CD/pen-drive/portable drive are needed to be handed in at the registration and will be returned to each participating countries after the competition.

SHUTTLE SERVICE

Scheduled shuttle buses will be provided by the Organizing Committee from the official hotels Bratislava, Color hotels to the venue and back during the event by schedule time.

ANTI-DOPING

It is strictly forbidden to take any illegal stimulants that are against the rules of the WAKO Anti-Doping Regulations. WAKO will have anti-doping tests on randomly chosen participants. Each participants found positive by the test will be sanctioned according to the WAKO General Rules and the WADA Code.

RULES

The rules of the event is sanctioned by WAKO. You can find WAKO Rules and Regulations on its website: www.wakoweb.com.

Please be kindly informed that the official equipment brands of the event are TOP TEN and ADIDAS. Athletes can use only these brands’ equipment during the entire event.

INSURANCE

WAKO EU, Slovak Kickboxing Union, The Organizing Committees and its agents and officers of the WAKO EU Championships in Bratislava 2018 will not be financially responsible for possible injuries caused during the competition. All competitors must have full personal accident and fighter insurance coverage from their own organization/country. Each country must ensure their members are adequately insured to compete and attend the event. It is the responsibility of the Chief of Delegation.
