SWE Policy on Campaigning & Endorsement of Candidates t  The primary source for information about Society ballot level candidates is the

statements and ballot information provided via official Society channels.

t  Use of SWE’s electronic resources is not permitted to promote individual candidates or to solicit signatures for a petition nomination. This includes SWE list-serves, SWE distribution lists, and SWE groups on social media. Personal email, including SWE alias emails, and personal social media venues are permitted.

t  Announcements made in the course of SWE business meetings, including conference calls, newsletters, or face-to-face meetings that an individual is running for office are permitted. Links to the primary information source should be included.

t  Messages in the course of SWE business or which use SWE resources that encourage voting for a specific candidate or that discuss candidates platforms are not permitted.

PDG: What’s New for FY15

A section/region/committee will be ineligible to receive a PDG if any of the following are true:

•  Section/Region/Committee has an overdue final report from a previously funded PDG, or

•  Section/Region/Committee already has three (3) PDGs open, or

•  With this grant, the section/region/committee has over $7,500.00 in funding of current/open grants, or

•  Section has not submitted their financial report to SWE HQ for the previous FY, or

•  The grant was submitted after the start of the event.

Section Maintenance/SWE Membership

t  To  remain  in  good  standing,  each  SWE  sec8on  must  have  at  least  10  paid  members.  Over  50%  of  the  paid  members  must  be  females  with  a  declared  Engineering  major.  

t  Things  to  keep  in  mind:  •  Sec8ons  receive  a  20%  rebate  for  each  paid  member.  •  ALL  sec8on  presidents  and  treasurers  must  be  paid  members.  

•  Only  sec8ons  in  good  standing  get  to  vote  in  RCR/RCCE/RCS  Elec8ons.

t  SWEFLs  are  invited  to  take  part  in  the  Collegiate  Leadership  Ins8tute  (CLI)  held  as  part  of  the  Annual  Conference.

SWE Counselor

•  Each collegiate section is required to have a SWE counselor.

•  The counselor is elected by the college section each year.

•  The counselor shall be considered a non voting member of the collegiate section.

•  The counselor is a member of your local professional section or a region MAL.

•  Update HQ if your SWE Counselor Changes

A professional member who oversees collegiate section needs and issues.

Faculty Advisor

A professor or staff member that provides the connection between the school and the section.

•  Not required, but recommended by SWE. •  The advisor is chosen by the SWE

section. •  Does not have to be a member of SWE. •  Oversees the section and ensures that all

school rules and obligations are being followed.
