Olam Tikvah Sisterhood is a diverse, multigenerational group of women that bond through social events, outreach, tzedakah, and education. Sisterhood members are part of the "kol ishah" (women’s voice) in the synagogue and it is a strong voice. Together, we strengthen the synagogue and the community, enhance Jewish education for ourselves and our families, and uphold, share, and create traditions. Whether you renew your membership every year, you are returning after an absence, or you are new to Olam Tikvah, we invite you to join the fun and friendship of Sisterhood this year. We offer many opportunities to perform tzedakah throughout the year and are planning many wonderful social and educational programs, mainly on Zoom until further notice. These varied activities will include exercise classes, book discussions, movie night, speakers, game afternoons/evenings, schmoozing sessions, and much more! We would like to include your ideas, as well. Please let us know what you would enjoy, and if you would be willing to help plan an event or have expertise to share with our members! And as you’ll see in this packet, your membership goes a long way, even if you are unable to attend many events or volunteer in the upcoming year. For everyone’s convenience, we strongly encourage as many women as possible to fill out the membership form online. Log in to www.olamtikvah.org/sisterhood and click the 2020-21 Membership Drive. Sisterhood is delighted to continue our successful Birthday Grams fundraiser. Sisterhood sends festive birthday wishes to ALL Sisterhood members on behalf of our entire membership. We hope that you will help us spread birthday wishes to your friends and acquaintances by making a contribution to our Birthday Gram Fund. All donations are appreciated; however, a donation of $54 is most helpful as we seek to cover our costs and to meet our charitable goals for the year. Torah Fund pin for 2020–2021: B’Yachad, TogetherThe Torah Fund theme for 2020–2021 is B’Yachad, which means ‘Together’. Wearing this pin signifies the joy of sisterhood members working together year-round to make important contributions to the Jewish community through their volunteer efforts at synagogues across the United States and Canada. Our pride in being Jewish shows in everything we do. We are high achievers in our professional and personal lives, and we accomplish even more together! Each of us is one small nugget of gold, but together our small gifts reflect and refract the light inside us, and help each other shine. Together, since 1942, the modest contributions of thousands of individuals to this grassroots fundraising effort called Torah Fund have helped to educate and train each generation of rabbis, cantors, scholars, educators, summer camp directors, chaplains, campus Jewish life staff, and committed lay leaders. These are the people who guide and teach, console and uplift our people, one soul at a time, whether in person or remotely, during these challenging times. We make this happen together. Join us!
