“What this world needs is a new kind of

army - the army of the kind.” ~Cleveland

Amory ‘BAGS OF HOPE’

The reason for the above quote is to preface an

exciting initiative from the NSW Dept of

Education & Training that was launched this

week.

It is called ‘BAGS OF HOPE’ for Cambodian

children.

It is a simple, yet effective initiative..

WE WANT YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL PACK

PACK!!!

Many children get a new school back pack over

the holidays for the next school year.

We ask you to drop your old or maybe a new

school backpack to school in the last week of

Term 4 or earlier.

Please take out the old fruit, newsletters etc

that hide in them for weeks!!!

Ashton Scholastic and the Hope for Cambodian

Children organisation will fill them with books

and school needs and send them to Cambodian

children.

Let’s make a difference to hundreds of

children’s lives in an easy way.

ROAD SAFETY

Please continue to be vigilant in the mornings and

afternoons; Use the two school crossings

No ‘U’ turns in David & Smith Streets

Don’t park in No Standing Zones

SRC COIN DRIVE

Thank you for supporting last Fridays’ Coin

Drive. We raised approximately $260.

The winning class was 5/6D who had the

LONGEST COIN LINE & the largest amount

collected.

NO HAT NO PLAY

A reminder that each student is expected to have

a school purchased ‘wide brimmed’ hat for sun

protection.

We are unable to supply a hat from lost property

due to hygiene reasons.

If you child comes to school without a hat it is

unfortunate BUT they will be unable to participate

in outside school activities including school sport

or recess/lunchtime play. They will have to stay

under the COLA or be supervised in another

classroom.

Please ensure that all hats are labelled with your

child’s name and class.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all our

students is protected from the Aussie sun when it

finally appears.

Yours in Public Education, John Harwin

BASKETBALL

The junior game saw the Green

team outscore the Yellow team 58

to 30. For the Green team our

scorers were Oscar (16), Jarrod (10)

and Sarah (2). Jess (8) and Brendan (2)

helped the Yellow team and it was Jess’ first

game back since her ‘break’. This was another

great game to watch with a basket being scored

every thirty seconds (on average). I sincerely

hope players continue to go out and shoot for a

hundred point game.

In the senior games the Terminators (69)

defeated the gallant Knights (24). The highlight

of this game was the great combination of Sarah

S and Olivia (2) who worked so well together in

offense. Nick (12), playing without make-up, led

the scoring for the Knights and was very strong

under the basket. Jess and Sarah C backed up

whilst Daniel (2) rebounded strongly and threw

some excellent outlet passes. For the

Terminators Jacob (16) again led the scoring and

it was great to watch Jarrod (6) move into space

and shoot three wonderful baskets. An exciting

win for the Terminators who continue to score

above the ‘Magic 50’ every game. Well done to all

players.

The Hotondo Hurricanes (49) accounted for the

Slammers (32) in a very physical encounter.

Jimmy (8) and Oscar (4) played well under

pressure with Taylor making good position. I am

looking forward to the Terminators and Hotondo

Hurricanes re-match.

Keep on Dribbling .......... Mr D
