Bournemouth are looking for entries for their

mixed 7-a-side festival competition.

Chair Chat Last weekend saw the last Colts games of the season and whilst both ended in defeat it climaxed an excellent season for the teams and the colts section. The Girls lost 4-1 to Marlow in a quarter final game whilst the Boys U12 in the South Championships qualified for the last 8 losing to eventual Champions Canterbury. Eastcote did have someone in the final with Chris Butler selected as one of the officials for the final. . Great effort Chris. Saturday sees the senior colts presentations at the Clubhouse. Both Vets sides played Reading and both lost 6-0 and for the Old Boars a 4

th place finish in the first division of

the Over 40s is a great performance. The Dinner Dance and Awards evening was a great night with some very worthy winners of the awards and with over 100 attending it was an excellent club evening to celebrate our success. I was delighted that Claire Moles could not only be able to present the Wally Howe fair play awards but collected a magnificent £506 for the Help Jess beat Boris (her nickname for cancer). Jess is a pupil at Harefield Junior School. Friday sees the Volunteers evening for all the hardworking club officials and on Saturday the Senior colts presentations are held. Sunday sees Middlesex run 3 Umpire coaching events across the County to help out umpires and I will be at OMTs to help coach and support. I am hoping for better luck with the weather on Saturday as the Cricket season has another effort to start! Rob

Mad Mike, Returns Again Another Marathon Effort

Fundraiser: Michael Ransome My page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MichaelWRansome Well, who would have thought, some five years ago, that I would now be contemplating a fourth battle with the challenge posed by those magical, sometimes murderous, 26.2 miles? But, 4 weeks after Easter Sunday, I'll be joining some 36,000 others, and hoping to raise ££s for the work of Alzheimer's Society, so greatly needed by those afflicted, and those with responsibility for their care. It's been a uncertain road this time, with injuries dating back to late 2015, compounded more recently with ITB problems, two physios, a 10 day abstinence, a very gradual return, and slow progression of times and distances. Managing 20 miles last Sunday, on route which included Great Windsor Park and Virginia Water, gave me the resolve to go ahead, though it is likely that the time on the day will slip back again beyond 5 hours. If this is a cause close to your heart, and you would be happy to support both the Society, and my determination to run, and finish, on its behalf, contributions to my on-line page would be much appreciated. Cash, cheques, and CAF vouchers have the same standing! Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me on http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MichaelWRansome and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. Thank you so very much Michael, and in all my other guises.

As manager of the England over 65’s who have just won European Gold at Southgate let me share with you one of our secrets, that could benefit all of us who play or have played sport. It would in fact benefit anyone with issues around back pain, arthritis, and/or lack of energy.

We have been supported by “Xenca“ for the past 4 years who have recommended two products to us and which the majority of the squads are using. I swear by them. The first is Collagen and the second Five a day + V. Both are natural products. If you have a club member in the squad talk to them about it. Results 17/04/2016 U16G Marlow A C Lost 1 - 4 U12B South Playoffs A C Reached Quarter Finals

Girls under 16s versus Marlow in the regional qualifiers at Marlow. Eastcote playing in white arrived raring to go, a good warm up and 13 players. We lost the first pass and so we piled the pressure on straight away. The game was fast, it was a warm day Lucy up front with Georgie and Tash onto the defence. The ball moved up and down the field and our defenders missing Sophia had Laura on the left, Megan holding the middle and Natalie on the left. Very strong tracking in the first half kept the ball out of the D well, but as the game went on, the tackles increased.

Alessia was controlling her player well and then Bang the opponent went down - unintentional tackle from Alessia saw her with a green card - Lucy dropped into defence leaving our midfield intact - Phillys holding the centre with Cerys and Orla on the sides. Many attempts at both ends saw Laura take a ball to the head and a brilliant save off the line from Megan L. Jane came on to stretch the game and Megan B relieved the pressure in the midfield but before long they managed to score against us. We went straight back at them and in the 2nd half an immediate. Change brought about a levelling goal straight from the centre. A long ball with Georgie working through, somehow a great pass to Lucy in the right position and in the ball went- we thought we would have a strong chance to punish them but sadly despite the whole team effort and about 15 short corners against a tiring Eastcote side... And a diving short corner defence routine that made the crowd gasp and Alessias knees scrape along the ground it wasn't meant to be. A good telling off for Jackie from the umpire claiming he was seeing nearly everything except the blatant foot ball, pushing and also the supporter who was actually the person who commented and complained (so not Jackie this time), the result was 4-1 to Marlow. Well done under 16 girls for some the end of colts and for others the end of a season

South of England Boys Under 12’s Tournament Eastcote Boys passed all expectations by playing their way to the Quarterfinals, only to be knocked out by eventual winners, Canterbury. They should be really proud of their achievement and of their performance on Sunday as they really did themselves, their parents and the club proud! However having said this none of

this would have been possible if it hadn’t been for the entire Under 12’s squad who have played a key role in getting the team ready. Each week the boys have being giving their all at training which has helped every player to up their game. The boys opened their campaign against a strong and organised Amersham and Chalfont team who quickly put the game out of reach, however it was the manner of the defeat that hurt the most. The boys took a little time out to discuss the problems between themselves and to set things right in their next game which brought Oxford. Giles opened the scoring with a screamer from the top of the circle by undercutting the ball into the top corner between post and keepers glove. The boys got a little frustrated as decisions didn’t go their way but it was a much better team performance than their first game. Sadly it was another defeat but at least the boys had proved they could bounce back and play better hockey. Their final two games were back-to-back against Horsham and Wallingford and in the true spirit of tournament hockey they were must win games. This information was kept from the boys which helped them to relax and as a result they probably played their most fluid hockey winning both matches, smiles all round as we waited for the results to come in from other matches. Colin had been working hard on a complex mathematical algorithm that indicated Oxford beating or drawing against Horsham could still see us going through, but to do so we would need to navigate a tricky playoff against Marden Russets for the final Quarterfinal place. This was a well matched game with few opportunities at both ends and it looked destined to go to extra time or flicks until Ollie popped up at the back post to slot the ball home. Our Quarterfinal opponents were Canterbury who opened their account from a short corner by drag-flicking the ball into the top corner, the boys played well but it is fair to say couldn’t match Canterbury and as a result our Tournament came to a close. Colin and I were really proud our boys and feel that the future is really bright as we know the Under 12’s section has much more to give. Finally we also want to say that one member of Eastcote HC did make it to the final as Chris Butler, who was once again on umpiring duties as our official, was awarded the honour of taking charge. Representing Eastcote Under 12’s: Alex Bickerstaff, Oswin Gurm, Patrick Carter, Giles Woodland, Oliver Walters, Riyan Hirani, Leo Barber, Alexander Jones, Ben Lazarevic and Vivek Ambasna Well done Boys! Andy and Colin

.. and congratulations to Andy Laz for successfully completing his level 2 coaching award. Well done

It is now a season of events taking place over 9 months including both School and Community Competitions across 30 different sports. The competitions are part of the national School Games Programme. School Competitions are organised locally by School Games Organisers, with the London finals hosted by LYG. For more information see our dedicated School Games page. Open competitions enable the most talented young people in each London borough to compete to become champions of London. Teams are organised by the sports development team in your local authority. Message from the Head Hockey Coach, Paul Loudon: Please pass this to parents, players, teachers and coaches. The Hillingdon Girls and Boys squads did very well last year by qualifying for the finals weekend at Crystal Palace. This year we are entering two hockey competitions:

Year 7 & 6 Boys and Girls will be playing in a new 6 a side competition

Year 9 and under, Boys and Girls will be playing in a 7 a side competition Training will start for both age groups from Saturday 16th April at Eastcote Hockey Club, Kings College Playing Fields, Kings College Road, Ruislip, Middlesex, HA4 7JZ. There will also be an open mixed session on a Wednesday at Brunel Sports Park, start date to be confirmed. The girl’s training will be at 10.00am and boys at 11.30am, which will continue until June, and possibly longer if the teams qualify for the finals weekend in July. It would be good for people to contact me in advance so I can plan for numbers. If you cannot make any of the initial sessions please let me know, as I need to register the players in advance, by the beginning of May. You need to put your name in the frame if you want to play. As per normal, we have an open policy regards coaching the teams, it costs nothing, all coaches are qualified and fully checked and both teams normally come from a wide range of schools and clubs. You need to live or go to school in the Hillingdon Borough and be in Year 9 or under and not be a county player to qualify. We can supply equipment but shin-guards and a mouth guard will be needed.
