    purchased lots214nWestbury Court which arecurrently empty lots Their intention is tobuild twobui ld ings fora total of4units toprovide lowincome housing rentals Adirect quote from ther website isthis Thegoal ofthe GICHF isto devQiop an d provide decen t affiordabie housing forlowncome residentsof theIowa City area especially toholders ofSection 8vouchers and cerfrficates The GICHF alsohasanewprogram providing loans forntadeposi ts GICHF has concentrated onverylowncomeentersRecent ly they have expanded their capacity andareexploring options toenter into theLow IncomeHousingTax CreditmarketOldeTowne Vil lage currently consistsof higher pricedsingeamlyhomes and owner occupied townhomeswith significant personal investment by theowners Wearedefinitely not going tosupport this plan andhave neighborhood concerns about devaluationof ourproperty and opposemore intensive deve lopmentThe impact ofmore intensive development such as increased traffic building scaleand des ign noisedemands onservicessafety increased crime constant turnovernonwne ccupied natureof tenants andupkeep of the property an cometomnd asmajor issues Wechose this development because its higherdensity wasattractive andwefelt it would help protect our resident ial investment

    Anadditional concern is that theland underdiscussion for this type of housing has been known tobeunstable forbuikfing due tohigh water content in thehillside The curbarea in frontof this land is alwaysmokied over and thearea unusable due towaterstanding still OurConcemis the quality

    ofconstruct ionand issues that will constantly be arising due toanarea deemed unsafe and unable tobuild on

    We areopposed tolowncomeental housing projects being integrated into ourestablishedhigherricedsingeamlyneighborhood It does notseem like it would beagood fit for thelowncomeentersorweashomewnersThe needs ofsection 8 rental housing should notbemet in adevelopment full ofhomeowners and businesses
