Covid-19 Update Now that the country has changed to the red, orange, and green system for Covid we are receiving more

documentation from Ministry of Education in preparedness for when we have Covid cases in our

community.

We have plans in place for the processes we need to follow if there is a case notified from our school (we

hope that we won’t have this happen )

Families/whānau could expect to be notified via our usual email system from eTap with clear instructions

about “what to do next”

In the meantime, as the school break starts, we are circulating one of the documents for you to read.

It may help you plan some preparedness actions in your home. It’s called “Is your household ready if

someone gets COVID-19?” and we have attached this with today’s newsletter.

Our Classes This Week

Salford Satellite

Kia Ora,

We have had a very Christmassy week at Salford this week! The class have been enjoying lots of Christmas

carols and one of their favourite books/songs “E hia nga moe?” which is all about counting down the sleeps

until Hana Koko/Santa comes.

We have completed some Christmas crafts and a fun art activity with Deanna. Each student also made their

own wrapping paper using Christmas stamps and stencils.

We talked this week about the importance of giving and how we can show others that we appreciate them.

The students made ten Christmas treats/cards and chose ten people in our school community to give them

to as a random act of kindness, the students made two biscuits and two cards each. It was great to see that

the students were happy to miss out on a tasty treat and instead gift it to people who have been great

friends or great helps this year! Skylar did a great job of presenting the treats to Jacob and Paula at Salford

who have been great friends of ours this year and Hope was so proud to greet Deanna with a treat when

she arrived on Thursday afternoon. The rest were delivered to people around Ruru.

Our prizegiving was a huge success on Tuesday, we are all so proud of the amazing patience, manners and

encouragement for others shown.

Have a lovely weekend,

We have had a fantastic week celebrating all things

Christmas! The students have been getting creative

with all kinds of Xmas crafts. There will be plenty of

decorations for the tree coming home in their school

bags on Friday! We ventured out to the stadium to

see the Christmas decorations on Thursday. The

students were so excited to see the huge trees and

Santa and his sleigh!

We also had our graduation ceremony this week. We

felt so proud of all our boys and their achievements

from throughout the year. Thank you all for joining us

online and the kind messages that were sent in.

Have a fantastic weekend!

It is hard to believe that the end of the term is almost upon us, with Christmas just a few weeks away. This

week we got our fingers all glittered up as we went full steam into making our own Christmas tree and

decorating it with decorations. We painted Pohutukawa flowers, although sadly, South Island doesn’t

experience the beautiful flower display quiet as it does further north. On Thursday we had our annual

Prize Giving which was enjoyed by everyone. We are proud of our young achievers and the progress that

they have made this year. As the term draws to a close, we are thankful for your support over the past 2

terms. We wish all you all a happy Christmas and a wonderful time together with family and friends.

Merry Christmas

Christmas week has been fun, creative, and very busy. We enjoyed making Santa Hats using rice bubbles,

marshmallows, and butter with red food colouring.

We created reindeer faced bags which we will carry our goodies home to our families after prize giving on

Thursday. The Astro Turf provided a breather from our Christmas spirit where we improved our small ball

skills.

Prize giving took place on Thursday at 1.30 and we celebrated our successes this year.

Have a great weekend.

place. Farewell to our beloved friends that will

be going before us into the next stage of life” oh

the good times we have had. I’m afraid this will

be my last transmission for the year. I hope you

all enjoyed the comedy because there will be

more next year. Have a Merry Christmas

everyone stay safe and live life to the fullest in

an orderly fashion and I shall end with a quote I

love “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery

and today is a gift that is why it’s called a

present.”

No matter where you go smile because just a

single smile can do so much even if it’s only a

little act.

WVP 1 have had a wonderful week. A trip to Queens Park for a pizza lunch and frisbee golf was a highlight

for many. Badminton was also another hit this week. We have made some Xmas treats for our junior

students. Reindeer hot chocolates and reindeer food went down a treat. Making the snowflakes and the

Xmas Art wall for the entrance to main school was another highlight. Daniel and Matthew graduate today,

we wish them the very best for their future and have enjoyed reminiscing with them about their many

adventures and experiences they have had at school.

Have a wonderful Xmas break from all of us at the Hub.

We have had a very quiet last week at school. The students enjoyed doing some Christmas art and making

marshmallow treats on Monday. On Wednesday we went for a lovely walk at the Otepuni Gardens. On

Thursday we went for a drive to Dolamore Park. It is a wonderful place to visit. We all enjoyed a picnic and

a gentle bush walk. We ended the week by celebrating our achievements this year and farewelling our

graduate Billy. We wish him all the best for his future and hope he comes back to visit.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday break. Merry Christmas.

Whānau Junior – Poutama Tāne

Kia Ora Whānau.

The Poutama Tāne students have been having a Christmas themed week. They have been working on

creating a wonderful round chimney with Santa Claus' feet sticking out of the top. There has been a lot of

'colour by words' on most of their Christmas artwork and it has been great to see them able to match the

colours with the corresponding word. A couple of students have been giving Christmas cards to their fellow

classmates filled with yummy treats creating big smiles all around.

The Poutama Tāne students enjoyed their Prize Giving this week. They have been enjoying the lovely

weather and we have gone out walking in the sunshine to the local park to enjoy the sun and the park

playground.

Have a great weekend

This week we made Christmas cards and mini-Christmas trees. It has been

great to be out and about visiting parks and walks with the lovely weather

we’ve had. Yesterday it was awesome to have our community Kaumatua,

Herewini come in to bless our classroom. It was very special to have him do

that for us. Today we had our prizegiving to celebrate our achievements for

This has been our last full week at school for 2021. Throughout this week we have all been practising really

hard for our end of year prizegiving. It is a very special time for us to gather, sit in the seats and wait for

Mrs Cairns to call our name and present us with our portfolio of year’s mahi as well as the picture book. I

am feeling very proud of Te Matatini Tahi tamariki as they watched and waited for their turn, and then

walked up the front. Ka rawe te mahi a aua māia, (the students were excellent).

Christmas crafts and arts have been fun to do this week and we have been enjoying the Christmas music

each day to sing, hum and dance along to.

On Thursday we were very lucky to have Kaumatua bless Te Matatini. Ka nui te mihi, it was lovely to have

you.

Have a lovely warm weekend

treat Santa's elves dropped off a bag of presents! After our

fabulous Prizegiving ceremony we had a picnic on the grass

special day celebrating all our students’ successes, and all

the Te Matatini teaching staff were so proud – each
