ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Established in the year 2010 under the auspices of Shri

Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust ®, Udupi, Shri

Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management

(SMVITM) has emerged as ‘A Promising Institution with

a Distinction’. The President of the Trust, H. H. Shri

Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji , at a very young age,

has promoted SMVITM to provide quality higher education

to the needy student community at affordable costs and

thereby ensuring the uplift of the underprivileged. Though

still at its infancy, SMVITM has carved a niche for itself in

the field of technical education in the Coastal Karnataka

region. The Institute has accredited with NAAC “A“ grade

and currently, more than 1600 students are pursuing BE

programmes in the four major disciplines at SMVITM: Civil

Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics &

Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

ABOUT CENTRAL LIBRARY

Library is a hub of all activities of general as well as technical

education. The Central Library of SMVITM has about 1300

square meters of built-up area and has a dedicated block

with large collection of books of different titles, e-resources,

CDs, periodicals to enhance skills amongst the

students.There are 3019 titles and 16134 volumes of

reference/text books, CD’s on science and technology and

also periodicals.The collection includes reference books

such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks and

standards. The library offers a book bank scheme for the

students, a special book bank scheme exclusively for SC/ST

students, reprography and printing facilities. The library

subscribes to e-journals and print journals. To promote the

use of library resources, it also subscribe to the e-resources

like Elsevier Science direct, Springer nature, Taylor and

Francis, Institution Of Civil Engineers (ICE), Emerald, K-

Nimbus, New age International, McGraw Hill

Education,Turnitin, Net Analytiks/ Sententia, Packt etc. The

Library uses Easylib Software package, which is an

integrated multi-user library management system that

ENTIRE AUTOMATION SYSTEM FOR LIBRARIES

Easylib is a solution offering you various tools and flexibility

to operate your library in a very efficient and productive

way. It is an integrated system with all the necessary mod-

ules needed for running a library very professionally and

efficiently. Being one of the finest software entries into the

market (i.e. Since January 2001), it has embedded the con-

cepts of client server, RDBMS, web environment, email inte-

gration and so on right from the start itself. It runs on GUI

(graphical user interface) environment giving you ease of

data entry and operation. It has web component that ena-

bles you to share library data across the campus. It also has

built in email and web publication support. Your members

would be able to access library resources with no installa-

tion of any software on their machine. It follows internation-

ally accepted library science standards like MARC, AACR2,

ISO 2709, Dublin core etc. So, this ensures that your data-

base is well designed as well as in future when you would

like to interconnect your library with other libraries, it is

easy with Easylib. In addition, the system has some of the

unique features like multiple language support, build your

own reports, library map and location view, multiple library

connectivity, statistical analysis tools to improve your library

operation, data import and export and so on. Easylib Soft-

ware Supports Barcode, RFID, & Biometric.

ploma /Degree/ PU Colleges.

Intending participants are requested to send the duly filled

Registration Form along with a DD in favor of “The Principal,

SMVITM, Bantakal”, payable at Udupi, to reach the college

via post/email latest by 20 July 2019.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The workshop is intended to focus on advanced features

Easylib software and various levels of library automation.

Information technology has changed the world and acts as

the important tool for retrieving information. Now a days,

library collections are not limited to printed document but

also on electronic resources. It has become the vital part of

human life in 21st century. E-Resources offer creative possi-

bilities for expanding access as well as changing learning,

teaching and research work. Contents of E-Resources can be

accessible, at any place regardless of time, to be read at

personal computers. E-books would never to go out of print,

and new editions can be easily created. Now days e-

resources are playing an important role by providing up-

dates in academic and research fields. In this context, this

topic has been chosen to discuss the advantages and obsta-

cles, and to know the impact of e-resources in academic

field.
