Everyone welcome. (David Nield) ONGERUP BOWLING CLUB. Ongerup Hotel -Blythswood Transport Mixed Triples The Bowling Club hosted a very successful mixed triples event on Sunday 17th Janu-ary. Twelve teams competed, including 2 teams from Jerramungup and Borden, and one from Nyabing. The afternoon games were delayed by a severe thunderstorm which came through just as play was about to recommence after the lunch break. The green was almost completely under water after receiving 10 mms of rain. At least the synthetic surface drains quickly and play was able to continue. The eventual winners were the Nyabing team of John Seaman, George and Robin Hams with 3 wins. Runners up were the Jerramungup team of Bruce Trevaskis, Peter and Jill Lane also with 3 wins. Third place went to Maurice O'Neill's team with Jade Peacock and Carl Walker. Next year's winners were Rod and Sue Moir's team from Borden which included 2 back packers from France. The club would like to express our appreciation to the sponsors Ongerup Hotel, represented by John Guy and Blythswood Transport represented by Ashley Barr.

In the forthcoming election, I seek your support to represent the Albany Zone (District 4) on the CBH Board of Directors. The foundation of my commitment as a board member would be to back the aim of the CBH Group to create and return value to growers. I’m not afraid to ask the hard questions and will provide honest feedback and answers. If you can see the benefits of a new voice in the boardroom then I am confident to put my name forward and commit to shaping CBH’s future. I'm able to strongly represent the many growers within the Albany Zone and their different farming business models and interests. I look forward to meeting those of you whom I do not already personally know and the opportunity to represent our local area and Zone. Rain rain go away!!!!
Unseasonal rain across the great southern has
made life interesting for the last few days,
with reports of falls of between 50 and over a
100 mls in the Ongerup area. Thankfully we
have escaped the damage it has caused
further north. Nice to start the year with full
dams and green feed for the sheep.
