ONLINE FDP IN PEDAGOGY AND RESEARCH METHODS

A PROGRAMME FOR MANAGEMENT TEACHERSJUNE 07 TO JULY 13, 2021

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) is happy to announce its second Online Faculty Development Programme in Pedagogy and Research Methods. We invite applications from motivated faculty members and educators in management and allied areas.

IIMA has been conducting an on-campus residential Faculty Development Programme (FDP) since 1979. Over the years, the FDP has developed a strong reputation for excellence in the professional development of management educators. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year also we have decided to offer online programme that can provide significant value and benefit for the professional development of management educators.

ADMISSION FEES FOR THE SELECTED CANDIDATESFEES: INR 33,630 (INR 28,500 + 18% GST)

The fee includes tuition fees, cost of online course materials, and GST. The fee is non-refundable.

OBJECTIVESThe focus of the online FDP in Pedagogy and Research Methods is on upgrading the teaching and research skills of management teachers.

CONTENT The curriculum is a careful blend of sessions that cover a range of topics including Case Method of Teaching, Classroom Effectiveness, Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Essentials of Crafting & Publishing Research, Statistical Methods and Modelling Techniques.

PROGRAMME DELIVERY MODE The online FDP is delivered in Device-to-Device (D2D) mode on the Zoom platform with adequate security features. The participants will attend the sessions by logging in from their computer.

DAYS and TIMINGS OF SESSIONSThe programme will be conducted from June 07 to July 13, 2021. There are two sessions per day from 6.00 pm to 7.15 pm and 7.30 pm to 8.45 pm, on any 5 days of the week. Scheduling on Saturdays and Sundays will be usually avoided and may be used only when required.

FOR WHOMIt is designed for highly motivated management teachers and researchers working in management schools, universities, colleges and professional institutes, or other government and private professional training institutes. Experience in teaching management or allied subjects is desirable, although we will consider candidates with a fresh PhD (or close to completing PhD) aspiring for a career in academics.

CERTIFICATIONOn completion, the participants will be awarded a Certificate of Participation in the Online Faculty Development Programme in Pedagogy and Research Methods.

HOW IS THE ONLINE FDP DIFFERENT FROM THE REGULAR ON-CAMPUS FDP?There are activities that happen in the regular on-campus FDP that require physical presence. The online FDP is not equivalent to the regular on-campus FDP, in that participants will still find it beneficial, and will be better equipped to attend the regular on-campus FDP in the future. Nevertheless, the online FDP is designed to provide a rich learning experience to participants. Also, the online FDP will give an opportunity to evaluate if one would want to attend the regular on-campus FDP in the future. Also, note that unlike the regular on-campus FDP, the online offering will not provide alumni status.

SELECTION and ADMISSION PROCESS1. Candidate should submit an online application at

https://www.iima.ac.in/web/fdp/apply-online2. IIMA will review the application within 3 working-days of submission and

communicate the selection decision to the candidate. A telephonic interview may be conducted where required.

3. Selected candidate should pay the admission fee within 2 days of receiving the admission offer to confirm the admission.

4. Admissions will continue on a first-come-first-serve basis (based on the above steps) until 07-May-2021 or until the maximum intake (as determined by IIMA) is met, whichever happens earlier.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR SELECTIONCandidates must be highly motivated towards a career in management teaching and research. At least two years of experience in teaching and research in management or allied areas is desirable. We will also encourage highly motivated candidates who have recently completed, or in their final stages of PhD. Preference will be given to participants less than 45 years of age. Since the FDP is offered in the English language, participants are expected to be fluent in English.
