Dr. Harold Levine has lead a varied career as violist, conductor, composer, and teacher. AnInterlochen Arts Academy graduate, his degrees include a Bachelor of Science from Ball StateUniversity, Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati, and Doctor of Music Arts fromRutgers University. After spending four seasons with the Louisville Orchestra, Dr. Levin servedon the faculty at the University of Nebraska, where he taught viola and conducted the LincolnYouth Symphony Orchestra. He has since served as Viola Professor and Director of Orchestrasat Memphis State, Western lllinois, and Bucknell Universities. Also a commissioned andpublished composer, Dr. Levin's music for both small and large ensembles has been recordedand performed across the United States. He has performed as violist and conducted at summerfestivals in Colorado, Michigan, Tennesee, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, andMassachusetts. Harold Levin studied viola with Dave Holland, Roben Slaughter, RaymondStilwell, Donald Mclnnes, and Michael Tree; and composition with Ernesto Pellegrini, JoelHoffman, and Charles Wuorinen. During the 2003-20M school year he served as VisitingProfessor at West Virginia University. He is currently on the faculty of Manhattan College inNew York City and the Morristown-Beard School in New Jersey. Dr. Levin is a member of theNew Jersey-based Herrick Ensemble, and in the summers serves as Instructor of Viola andChamber Music at the Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Mr. Jeffrey Welcher received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Crane Schoolof Music at Potsdam College in Potsdam, N.Y., and his Master of Music Education from WestChester State University in West Chester, Pa. He is currently Vocal Music Director at OneidaHigh School in Oneida, N.Y. where he conducts Concert Choir, Freshmen Chorus, Yocal JazzEnsemble and Freshmen JazzLab.

Mr. Welcher has been involved with the New York State School Music Association ConferenceVocal Jazz Ensemble as chairman and is one of a small number of teachers certified for VocalJazz Adjudication in New York State. He has done guest conducting and adjudicating for All-County, Regional and All-State Choirs and Vocal Jazz Ensembles throughout the Northeast.

Mr. Welcher is an active member on ACDA, serving as Eastern Division Repertoire andStandards Committee Chairman for Jazz Ensembles. He is also a member of IAJE and the 2003recipient of the Syracuse Symphony Musicians Award for Outstanding Choral Director.

As a peformer, Mr. Welcher is a member of the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble, an active churchsof oist/organist and jazz vocalisVpianist.

Dr. Adam F. Brennan has been Director of Bands and Professor of Percussion Studies atMansfield University since 1995. Currently, he is serving as Chair of the Music Department andmaintains his duties as Director of Bands. He received his Bachelor of Ans degree in musiceducation and a Master of Arts degree in composition from Western Illinois University. He

earned his Doctor of Music Arts degree in instrumental conducting from the University ofOklahoma.

The Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Adam F. Br.nnun,has been hailed as an outstanding performing ensenble, richly sensitive, musically compelling,and deeply passionate in their interpretation of cutting edge wind and percussion repertoire. Theensemble consists of 49 auditioned peformers from the MU music department and university.This group records and performs annually on campus and throughout the eastern region on toursand at conventions and special events. The Mansfield University Bands are recorde d on StrikeUp the Bands!, This Could Be the Start of Something Big, and their most recently releasedcompact disc Music From the Endless Mountains. Dr. Brennan's responsibilities include administrating the band program and conducting theConcert Wind Ensemble, the school's top wind and percussion ensemble. Dr. Brennan alsodirects the Marching band, The Pride of Pennsylvania!, where he writes all musicalarrangements and is responsible for each season's drill design. In addition to these ensembles,he teaches courses in percussion techniques and instrumental conducting to both undergraduateand graduate students and teaches courses related to instrumental conducting. Dr. Brennan isalso the percussion ensemble arranger and pit ensemble consultant for the World ChampionEmpire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Following this year as Interim Department Chair, Dr.Brennan will assume the responsibilities as chair for the next two years. He will maintain hisrole as Director of Bands we well.

From 1989-1995, Dr. Brennan was Associate Director of Bands and Percussion at WesternIllinois University. Prior to this, he served as Director of Bands at Kankakee Valley High Schoolin Wheatfield, IN and was the percussion caption head and writer for the Northmen Drum andBugles Corps in Green Bay WIS. An active composer and clinician with over 100 arrangementsand compositions and over 150 guest conducting and clinical engagements, Dr. Brennan travelsextensively, making guest appearances at festivals throughout the United States.

He has recorded regularly as a conductor and percussionist and can be heard on Strike Up theBands and This Could be the Start of Something Brgl (produced by Mark Records), TwilightAffering Music, Fantasy Variations and the newest release by the MU Bands entitled Music fromthe Endless Mauntains.

Dr. Brennan is the President of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Bandmaster's Association. Hisprofessional memberships include the College Band Director's National Association, the MusicEducator's National Conference and the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association, Phi MuAlpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi BandFraternities (honorary member), and the Autism Society of America. He was awarded theprestigious Orpheus Award from Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia through education, performance,creativity and research. In 2003, Epsilon Iota, the local chapter of Kappa Kapps Psi NationalBand Fraternity, presented him with the Bertram Francis Memorial Award for Outstanding

Contributions to MU Bands. Dr. Brennan resides in Wellsboro. Pennsylvania with his wifeKatie, and three children, Max, Ian, and Maggie.

Accompanist Mr. Michael E. Copps is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at PotsdamState University. Fe received his Bachelor of Music degree while studying Piano and Voice.Graduate work followed at the Saratoga - Potsdam Choral Institute where Mr. Copps wasawarded a full assistantship in piano accompanying.

Mr. Copps has an extensive background in piano accompanying, including fifteen years playingfor the New York All-State Choirs. He served as pianist for the 1996 ACDA Senior HonorsChoir in Philadelphia and the 2004 ACDA Junior High Honors Choir in Boston. Locally, Mr.Copps accompanies the Elementary, Junior, and Senior High choirs at the Oswego andOnondaga All-County festivals. He has worked with the Liverpool Community Chorus, theOswego County Children's Chorus, Syracuse Opera Company, the Syracuse Children's Choir,and has been the pianist and Musical Director for Theater 90, and the Wits End Players.

In the Spring of 1998, Mr. Copps was asked to be the guest conductor for the OnondagaElementary All-Chorus. He also guest conducted the 2003 Oswego Elementary All-CountyChorus.

Mr. Copps is in his eleventh year as Lower School Vocal Music Teacher and ChoralAccompanist at Manlius Pebble Hill School. He has served for ten years as the director ofKinder Stock and Fun Stock. (MPH's summer musical theater programs for grades K-6)

Mr. Copps currently is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, M.E.N.C., N.Y.S.S.M.A., andA.C.D.A. He is also a board member for the Onondaga County Music Educators Association.Mr. Coops is the organist and accompanist for the Eastwood Baptist Church in Syracuse. Bornand raised in Oswego, he and his wife Sue now live in East Syracuse.
