Open Education Resource: Flipping the classroom with
GNOMIO
The open education resource is a collection of GNOMIO
course activities that are useful as out-of-class activity while
flipping the classroom. This consists of communication
system, modulation and demodulation techniques.
OER is downloadable from:

Section 2: Design Decisions
The design decisions involved in the creation of this OER were of broadly three
types:
1. Content Decisions
2. Pedagogic Decisions
3. Technology Decisions
Content Decisions:
In the Introduction to communication system, we have discussed based needs
for communication system- transmitter, receiver and channel.
Pedagogic Decisions:
Typically in a flipped classroom strategy, there are two parts, Out-of-class and
In-Class. The out-of-class requires student to refer to some given material and
form an understanding about the concepts that are relevant. The concept
marking the pedagogic decisions that were taken for the Out-of-class segment
related to:
a. Mostly recall application level question for out of class and Create Level
question for In-class.
b. Multiple choice questions for out of class, Team-Pair-Solo strategy for in-
class.
Technology Decisions
A. Creating screencast by using different Tools.
B. GNOMIO course activity for setting up Out-of-Class segment as it
allowed guided self-learning.

Section 3: OER Description
Active OER For checking the active OER through your mail ID.
Course Settings You fill the sections with resources (things for students to read or look at) and
activities (things for them to do).
Turn editing on from the Settings menu..
Create a new course by clicking the 'Add a new course' button
Try to drag a file from your desktop into the course
Or click the 'Add an activity or resource' link.
Use the 'Add a block' menu (bottom left) to add "blocks" of information
to the left or right column.

The slides, from 1 to 5 represent the creating different activities in GNOMIO.
After adding the course, in that create different types of activities. Like survey
of the students, power-point- presentation, multiple choice questions and
feedback question.

Section 4: Evaluating Effectiveness of OER
The Open education resource effectiveness can be assessed at two levels:
1. At the student
2. At the consumer
Effectiveness at the student
Effectiveness at the student involves metrics related to student access of the
resource and student learning. The conduction of examinations based on the
concept which discussed in the GNOMIO.
Effectiveness at consumer
OER consumers are typically teachers who want their students to learn
communication. Conducting a survey on main constructs like – Ease of Use,
Coverage of concepts and Complexity of concept, can help in identifying the
effectiveness of this OER at consumer level. This has to be done as a follow-up
activity.

Section 6: Building a Community of
GNOMIO and Flipped Classroom Adopters
Possible Sources for Community Building
There are various sources to build the community of GNOMIO
Those peoples who are interested to do digital teaching.
Those who are using GNOMIO.
Those students, who wants reduce the paper work.
Those students and teachers who want to improve their technical
knowledge
Plans for Community Building
The resources are already available in the webpage and it is access requires the
users to provide their email id. All the interested users can then be connected
using a local wordpress or GNOMIO website.
