Independence High School
August 11, 2020
Welcome Parents! – Principal MessageIt is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2020-2021 school year at Independence High School, Fulton County’s non-traditional school of choice located in the heart of Historic Roswell, GA. We serve students who want to work at a quicker pace to complete courses, earn credits and graduate early, students who need a smaller, more personalized setting, and those for whom the traditional high school simply wasn’t the right fit. The mission of Independence High School is to provide an enriching learning environment that will enable students to graduate from high school and become responsible, productive citizens. Although we will begin the school year in a Universal Remote Platform, our faculty and staff are committed to providing your student with the best universal remote learning experience possible. Regardless of the format, our goals as a non-traditional high school remain the same. .
Principal Message - Continued
Our goals are:
•To provide modes of learning to fit the individual needs of students.• To provide opportunities for flexible scheduling.• To help students achieve success both personally and academically.• To establish clear expectations and high standards for behavior, attendance, and performance.• To foster individual responsibility and accountability for learning.• To provide students with the skills needed to be college and career ready after graduation.
Principal Message - Continued
While our teachers have always excelled at meeting students where they are academically upon their arrival at Independence and working with them to get them to where they need to be, our new Blended Learning Model offers additional flexibility and more personalized attention. With this format, our students will learn through both online delivery of content and instruction, and the more traditional approach of a supervised, face-to-face classroom. The first method affords students more control over the time, place, path and/or pace of their learning. The second provides the one-on-one attention and personal connections needed to support their progress.
We understand the importance of finding the best school for your student’s education and we believe that Independence High is that school. We know that “one size does not fit all” when educating our youth, we embrace our students’ differences and we take pride in our diverse population. I continue to be honored to serve as the Principal of Independence High School and I look forward to another great year. Every Student, Every Day!
With Warmest Regards,
Tabatha Taylor, Ed. S.
