General safety instructions− Toenablefault-freeoperationtobeguaranteed,itis

imperative that the rechargeable battery be replaced after every two years of operation. If this maintenance instruc-tionisdisregarded,thefunctionalsafetyofthesystemandthus also the safety of buildings and persons cannot be guaranteed.

− Toensurethatthesystemalwaysfunctionsconsistently,thefirealarmfunctionmustbecheckedonceeveryfourweeks.In order to check at the same time that the rechargeable batteryalsofunctionscorrectly,thecontrolmustbediscon-nectedfromthemains.Inthisway,theemergencyfunctioncan be checked to ensure that the door is closed automati-cally by the auxiliary motor.

− Emergencyoperationisnotpossibleifthereisafaultinthesafety circuit of the door operator.

− Toavoidadeepdischargeoftherechargeablebattery,thebatteryshouldnotbeconnectedtotheFS101unituntilthesystemisputintooperationforthefirsttime.Ifdeepdischargeoccurs,thebatterycannotberechargedagainand must be replaced immediately.

4. Overview of products

4.1 Product descriptionTheFS345controlcanbeusedinconnectionwithFDF,FT,FTAandFDSfire-protectiondrivesaswellaswithhydraulicdrives.InversionFS345HY,hydraulicdrivesareused.

TheFS345controlconsistofaCS300FSdoorcontrolunit,anFS101auxiliarycircuitboardandarechargeablebatteryforemergencypowersupply,magneticcouplings,DC-operat-edmotors,24Vmotorbrakes.

Incaseoffireorpowercuts,theemergencyrechargeablebattery provides the energy required for the auxiliary motor to close the door or for the motor brake to hold the door in position.

Thefiremodeistriggeredbyacontinuouscommandinthefirealarmcontactoristimeactivatedifthemainspowersup-plyfails.Inthecaseoffire,thedoorcloseswiththeclosingedgesystemdeactivated,or,optionally,withtheclosingedgeactivated.

5. Commissioning

5.1 General information

Toguaranteethattheequipmentfunctionsproperly,itmustbe ensured that:− Thedoorisinstalledandoperational.− TheMFZoperatormotorisinstalledandreadyforopera-

tion.− Thecommandandsafetydevicesareinstalledandreadyfor

operation. − ThecontrolhousingwiththeFS345controlisinstalled.

REFERENCE

The relevant manufacturers’ instructions must be adhered to fortheinstallationofthedoor,theMFZoperatormotor,andthe command and safety devices.

5.2 Mains connection

PreconditionsToguaranteethatthecontrolfunctionproperly,thefollowingpoints must be ensured:- The mains voltage must correspond to the voltage stated on

the type plate.- The mains voltage must be the same as the voltage of the

operator.-Forathree-phasecurrent,aclockwiserotatingfieldis

required.-Forapermanentconnection,anall-polemainswitchmust

be used.-Forathree-phaseconnection,only3-wayautomaticcircuitbreakers(10A)maybeused.

NOTICE

Malfunctions can occur as a result of incorrect installation of the control!Beforeswitchingonthecontrolforthefirsttime,acheckmust be carried out after completing the wiring to ensure that all the motor connections at the motor and at the con-trolissecurelyfixed.Allcontrolvoltageinputsaregalvani-cally isolated from the supply.

5.3 Initial operation FS 101 emergency op-eration circuit board

GeneralTheFS101circuitboardincludesachargerfortherecharge-able battery and a microprocessor for controlling the auxiliary drive or the motor brake.ThecircuitboardisconnectedtotheCS300FSdoorcontrolunit in the factory and if it is purchased together with a door operator,thecorrectsettingsforthatoperatorarealsopresetin the factory.Allthatremainstobeconnectedisafirealarm,andtherechargeablebatterymustbeconnectedtotheFS101circuitboard via a plug.

NOTICE

Malfunctions due to incorrect installation of the battery!Topreventdeepdischargeoftherechargeablebattery,thebatteryshouldnotbeconnectedtotheFS101circuitboarduntilthedoorisputintooperation.Topreventerrors,thebatterymustbeconnectedtotheFS101circuitboardbefore the connection is made to the mains power supply.

TheFS345controlisdesignedforusewithtwodifferenttypes of door operator.

FT operatorsDIP 1 ON and DIP 6 OFF1.FTdooroperatorswith24VDCmotorbraking.Inemergencymode,thedoorisclosedviathe24VDCauxiliarymotor.The weight of the door is held by the ener-gised motor brake.The power supply comes from the mains adapterontheFS101circuitboard;ifthemainspowerisinterrupted,powerissuppliedfrom the rechargeable battery.(DIP6ONrequiredforversionHY)

FD (FDF, FTA, FDS) operatorsDIP 1 OFF1.FD(FDF,FTAandFDS)dooroperatorswitha24VDCauxiliarymotorand24VDCmotorbrake(FDF5).Inemergencymode,thedoorisclosedviathe24VDCauxiliarymotor.The power supply comes from the mains adapterontheFS101circuitboard;ifthemainspowerisinterrupted,powerissuppliedfrom the rechargeable battery.

9.10 Door sealing function for FT fire door operators

To ensure that the sections of the door close together tightly inemergencymode,thedoormustbedrivenbeyondtheCLOSElimitswitch.WiththeFS345control,thisfunctionistimecontrolledandissetusingTIMER2.Avalueof0to5secondscanbeselected.

Prerequisites: − Door operator type FT (DIP 1 is set to ON) − The system has been set in operation and the limit switches

have been set.

Settings:1. OPENandCLOSElimitswitchesaresetfornormal door operation.2. Settimer2tothemid-rangevalueof2.5seconds.3. Drive the door to the OPEN end position.4. Switchoffthemainsvoltagesupplyandpressthe TESTbutton.5. ThedoorrunstotheCLOSEDendpositioninemer gency operation mode.6. ThedooristhendrivenbeyondtheCLOSElimitswitch for 2.5 seconds. Only then is power supplied to the motor brake again and the door is held in position.7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 entering different values for timer 2 until optimum results are achieved.8. TheFS345controlunitaffordsprotectionagainstdeepdis-charge of the battery and can carry out regular tests to check the condition of the battery.

10.1 Checking the rechargeable battery and emergency operation

� Toensurethatthesystemalwaysfunctionsconsistently,thefirealarmfunctionmustbecheckedonceeveryfourweeks.In order to check at the same time that the rechargeable batteryalsofunctionscorrectly,thecontrolmustbediscon-nected from the mains. This is the only way to demonstrate that the emergency function is operational and that the door closes automatically via the auxiliary motor.

10.2 Protection against deep discharge

If,followinginitialoperation,thecontrolisoperatedforalengthyperiodwithoutanexternalpowersupply,thecontrolisswitchedoffafteradefinedperiodtopreventdeepdischarging of the battery. The period of time depends on the type of operator and so from the external consumer devices.

The buzzer sounds continuously for 60 seconds to signal that thebattery,andthereforealsothecontrolunit,hasbeenswitched off.

If timer 1 is to be set to nought (door does not close if mains powerfails),thedoorclosesinacontrolledmannerorisleftopen depending on the setting of DIP switch 5. It is only pos-sible to keep the door open in a controlled way if DIP switch 1 is OFF:

The control can only be switched on again if the external volt-age supply is reconnected.

For FT types of operator (DIP 1 ON), if the mains sup-ply has been interrupted for a period of 8 hours or longer, the battery is charged for 30 minutes as soon as the mains voltage is switched back on. The door control cannot operate during this charging period.This charging status is indicated via the recharge LED and can be interrupted by pressing the RESET button.

10.3 Cyclic testing of the rechargeable battery

TheFS345controlisabletotesttheconditionoftherechargeablebatteryautomatically.Innormaloperation,thebattery is disconnected from the control every 60 minutes and the battery voltage is checked.

Ifthebatteryvoltagefallsbelowaspecifiedvalue(19V),thisisrecognisedasafault,whichisthenindicatedviathefaultrelay,thebuzzerandthediagnosticLED.Itcouldbethat proper operation in emergency mode is then no longer possible.

DIP switch 5 can be set to specify whether the door closes or stays open in this case.

10.4 Recharging the battery

NOTICE

Incorrect charging of maintenance-free lead batter-ies may result in faults or failures!Before not using for any length of time (two options)

− Disconnect your battery from the charger and store the battery in its fully charged state

(if not using for more than three months, charge for at least 36 hours)

− Youcancontinuetochargeyourbatteryindefinitelywiththe battery charger switched on (maintenance charging). We recommend storing the batteries in a cool room.

High temperaturesCharging the battery at temperatures of over 30°C is not recommended.Yourbatterychargerisfactorysettoacharging voltage which is designed for an ambient tem-perature of 20°C.

Low temperaturesCharging the battery at temperatures under 10°C is not recommended.Atlowtemperatures,theavailablecapacityis reduced.

Deep dischargePlease avoid deep discharging of your battery. If deep batterydischargeoccurs,however,replacethebatteryim-mediately.
