    Safer Roads-Save Lives

There are a number of important points to remember about the word we live in and how that needs to be kept in mind when using the tools.

We live in a 3 dimensional word and the eye needs help in figuring out two dimensional slides.

Heres an example.FIT Started Downtown very successful moved concept to southShots calls went from 2-3 per week to zero 2 weeks into programMCS OPS Plans, MJR Case Mgt, Shots spreadsheet tracking linking incidentsFirearms Interview The need for targeted intelligence gathering relative to firearms has become essential. The firearms related interview policy is aimed at identifying those who are importing and trafficking weapons. 90% of weapons we deal with are smuggled in from the USAAdvanced search and seizure training. Consent to search form.GET members from all districts extra training and part of a info fan out systemGCU 10+1 now 13+1 better coverage now days & AftsWebsite Target sheets, officer safety bulletins now in every patrol carCommunity Objective is to engage the community to reduce the establishment and impact of gangs and reduce gang recruitmentSupt Heed meets regularly with Indo Canadian LeadersSgt Giardini has made excellent contacts in the Vietnamese communityAdopt a gang member program and meet gang members parentsWe observed a steady increase from 1994 to a peak in 2002 of 14 homicides. We feel that our regional approach has lead to a decline in recent years. Injuries are only captured here if related to a homicide. As you can see in 2006 alone the VPD seized 628 firearms. Firearms have become a commodity for sale and trade. Its also status, every gang members wants to have one and they are very easy to buy.We are partners with the listed agencies and have seconded staff to some of these agencies to meet a regional goal of dealing with organized crime and to ensure Vancouver's interests are meet.Training of all 222 Main prosecutorsDedicated crown for Gang incidentsTOP 20 Tracking and backgrounds pre writtenEnforcement
