Opportunity
• Can we identify patterns (across Man, Machine, Material, and Method) in products that had defects during manufacturing or were returned ?
• Are there patterns of events that cause the equipment to fail ?
• Can we predict the product quality during manufacturing based on these patterns ?
• Who are the other customers with products which were manufactured with these patterns ?
• Is there a correlation between machine parameters and product quality ?
• What are the top factors/influencers that affect product yield ?
• Can we anticipate the need for a product recall ?
• Can we predict and intelligently react to disruptions in the supply chain ?
• Can we forecast whether a shipment will be on time ?

I am the project manager for “Eastern Bridge” project. This is a highly time critical and quality critical project. I must avoid delays and/or re-work! I see the number of procurement plan lines that are still in Draft status that I need to release to the Buyer for planning

I have now drilled into Draft plan lines. Of those, I am satisfied that I have provided enough information on one of them. In addition, I have indicated that I am primarily concerned about the quality. Let me now release the lines to the Buyer for planning.

Meanwhile, over in Procurement world, I am a category manager for “Construction Metals”. Here I see procurement plan lines for all projects that I procure for.
I see the number of lines ready for planning and I drill down into my category

Now I want to compare the suppliers that satisfy the quality and on-time rating for price
However, I know that on-time delivery and quality rating are absolutely paramount for this project. Now, of all the suppliers who have agreements with me, let me narrow down to those who meet my primary objective quality and on-time delivery. (Price is important, but not as much. )

Adding this agreement from this supplier as the source of supply for the plan line
There are 2 suppliers, both of them satisfy my criteria, but one has the better price and a shorter lead time.
