Obituary
Franklin Roosevelt Blakeney was born November 8th, 1951 to late the Grant and Sarah Jane Blakeney in Chesterfield, South Carolina. He departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 with all of his family by his side. Franklin attended the Chesterfield County public school system and was employed many years with Conbraco Industries and nine years with Conmet, Monroe, North Carolina until his health declined. On January 8th, 2008, our lives changed, he was diagnosed with stage four cancer. Franklin was determined that he was going to fight this battle with the help of the Lord. The doctor told us he would live seven months because it was so serious, but God said not now. He blessed us with eleven loving years. Franklin was surely wrapped in the arms of the Lord. Those were the most loving, devoted, and caring years we had with him. We will surely let our memories keep us uplifted. Franklin was the best husband, father, and grandfather in the entire world. His presence was always special to us. We laughed, we cried, and we have had so much fun with him. Fishing was his hobby, but he also loved to cook. Mom had a hot meal everyday regardless if she was working or sitting right in the house. Left to cherish his loving, devoted, caring, life and memories: his wife, Mary Jane Blakeney, who loved him with her whole heart and soul in the home; children, Frank Little (Mary Ann), Wadesboro, NC, Wanda Townsend (Demmie), Jefferson, SC, Shonda Blakeney, Pageland, SC, Kenneth Blakeney (Pamela), Monroe, NC and Mary Anna Chappell (Derwane), Pageland, SC; devoted brother that he loved dearly, Bobby Blakeney (Kathleen), Pageland, SC; sister, Glennie Blakeney, Pageland, SC; special nieces, Beverly Blakeney, Morven, NC and Melinda Horton, Charlotte, NC and nephew, Charles Horton, Charlotte, NC he saw to be his own children and truly meant the world to him; half siblings, Odessa Miller, Pageland, SC, Venor Miller, Pageland, SC, Harvin Miller, Pageland, SC and Howard Miller, Pageland, SC; sister-in-law, Sadie Miller, Pageland, SC and Geneva Moore, Pageland, SC; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; Washington DC family who touched him in a special way, he truly appreciated their visits; a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Sturdivant, six half-sisters Aileen Willis, Lula Jane Goodman, Mary Lee White, Beulah Cabbagestalk, Ella Sue Redfearn, and Ruth Miller; a half-brother, Albert Miller and a grandson, Demarus Rorie.
