His book on Developing Anti-Fragile Organisations, based on exten-ding the application of the ideas of Nassim Taleb to public and pri-vate sector organisations, is due for publication by Gower in April 2014. Tony works closely with EFQM, including representing the interests of SKEA, the national partner in Abu Dhabi. He acts as an EFQM trainer, and trainer of trainers. Whilst at the University of Leicester, he led the major research project for EFQM and BQF which established the business case for Excellen-ce. He has always been at the forefront of business and public sector in-novation and practice. He was a major contributor to the UK Natio-nal Quality Campaign, and the Managing in the 90`s programmes. He currently chairs the MS6 Technical Committee of BSI, which did most of the development work on the creation of the new ISO13053 international Six Sigma standard and is now developing an audita-ble ISO standard for Six Sigma and Lean Operations, and chairs the Royal Statistical Society Quality Improvement Section incorpora-ting the Six Sigma, Lean & Process Improvement Study Group. He has experience advising and mentoring public and private sector senior managers and Board members, to the highest level.

Dr. John Timmerman Gallup’s Senior Strategist in Cu-stomer Experience and Innovation, is a renowned ex-pert in creating outstanding customer experiences by building and integrating business cultures, systems,

and technologies. Prior to joining Gallup, he served as the vice pre-sident of operations and quality for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and most recently served as the global vice president of guest expe-rience and rooms operations for Marriott’s portfolio of 18 brands and more than 3,700 hotels worldwide. A recognized thought leader in the science of service, John has presented hundreds of lectures and consultations on designing customer-centric organizations across a globaly diverse range of industries. John is chairman of the Ameri-can Society for Quality, which serves more than 70,000 quality pro-fessionals in 140 countries, and he is a a former senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. John received his bachelor’s degree with honors from the Universi-ty of Delaware, his master’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and completed his doctorial degree at Iowa State Uni-versity. Prior to starting his career in the hospitality industry, John served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 2nd Force Reconnaissance Ma-rine.

Dr. H. James Harrington, (born 1929) is an internatio-nal performance improvement guru. He has authored over 35 books and developed many concepts; Poor-Quality Cost,

Total Improvement Management and Business Process Improve-ment. At the conference he will be giving a special Keynote address which draws from his vast experience and unique knowledge of the history of quality. Jim is past President and Chairman of American Society for Quality and the International Academy for Quality, CEO of the Walter L. Hurd Foundation and the Harrington Institute. Jim is also a lifetime Honorary Chairman of the Asian Pacific Qua-lity Organization. He has been given many awards including the Armand V. Professor anthony Bendell International expert speaker, consultant and trainer with extensive experience in the fields of Quality Mana-gement, Organizational Excellence, Lean Operations and Six Sigma, Tony is a well known invited keynote speaker at Conferences and Events worldwide. Formerly the Rolls-Royce funded Professor of Quality

Professor Mohamed Zairi

Professor Mohamed Zairi is a British academic and expert in Total Quality Management. He is Professor of Best Prac-tice Management and Executive Chairman of the Europe-an Centre for Best Practice Management in Keighley, UK . He previously held the title of Professor at the University of Bradford for over 12 years. He was appointed to the Sabic

Chair in Best Practice Management in 1995, which he held until 2004. He was subsequently selected for the prestigious Juran Chair, which is funded by the Government of Dubai in the form of a Consortium. He currently holds the position as Emeritus Professor at the University of Bradford. Pro-fessor Zairi is the initiator of the concept of Excellence Tetralog. Professor Zairi is recognised as one of the main pioneers in the field of Benchmarking and Best Practice Management. He is globally accepted as a leading rese-archer in this field and an authority on the application of these powerful concepts. He represents a very unusual breed of academics who have, from an early stage, demonstrated how knowledge can be put to work. He has helped bridge the gap between academic thinking and the application of practical solutions to problems by translating novel ideas and innovative concepts into useful and purposeful guidelines and blue prints that can be used by managers in all sectors of industry and commerce. Professor Zairi has influenced Management Thinking in the UK, Europe and the rest of the Globe. Firstly through his relentless efforts to research problem areas and disseminate knowledge and secondly through his prolific contribution to academic thinking through his presence at conferences and his publi-cations in internationally referred journals. He has to his name, over 300 publications, including 17 books in the field of quality and related topics. He has also actively participated in well over 250 conferences nationally and internationally. Since the mid 1980s Professor Zairi has been active in supporting organisations in the UK adopt Best Practice Management thin-king. He has worked very closely with hundreds of organisations covering a wide spectrum of public and private sectors interests. His work in the 1980s in the field of Advanced Manufacturing Technology helped pave the way for SME’s in particular to contemplate the introduction of sophisticated technological systems without having to encounter the types of difficulties and problems faced by large organisations. Dr. Robin Mann is the Head of the Centre for Organisational Excellence Research, New Zealand, www.coer.org.nz, Chai-rman of the Global Benchmarking Network, www.global-

benchmarking.org, and Co-Founder of BPIR.com Limited, www.bpir.com – a leading benchmarking website resource. Robin’s experience includes managing the UK’s Food and Drinks Industry Benchmarking Initiative (1995-1998), New Zealand Benchmarking Club (2000-2004), chief expert for Sheikh SAQR Government Excellence Pro-gram, UAE (2005-2007), reviewing the Australian Business Excellence Framework (2006), chief expert for APO’s project on business excellence in Asia (2009-2011), developer of the TRADE best practice benchmarking methodology and founder of the International Best Practice Competition (2012 onwards). Dr. Abonamah is a Professor and the CEO of the UAE Academy, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Chamber. Be-fore appointed in this post, he was the Vice President of Academics. He is also the Project Director and Presi-dent of the Abu Dhabi School of Management.From August 2000-August 2003, Dr. Abonamah was

a Professor and the Assistant Dean of the College of Information Sy-stems at Zayed University. From September 2003-September 2007, he served as the Director of the Institute for Technological Innovation at Zayed University, a Center of Excellence to promote technology adop-tion, knowledge transfer, IP rights, and conduct research relevant to the region. Before coming to the UAE, he was a Professor of Computer Science and the Computer Science Division Head at the University of Akron. Dr. Abonamah has a PhD in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois and an Executive Management Graduate Degree from Yale University School of Management. Dr. Abo-namah has extensive teaching, research, and academic management experience. He has been successful in utilizing his academic experience to develop curricula and academic programs, educational policies and processes, launch educational initiatives, establish strategic partnerships, and build strategic plans. Dr. Abonamah is a Senior Business and Education Consultant who has been involved in many strategic educational, technological, and business initiatives. He also contributed to and led assessment teams for Dubai Quality Award, Sheikh Saqr Excellence Award in Ras Al-Khaima, Dubai Holding Excellence Award, and Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Award. On the Arab regional level, he is working as advisor for Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Arab Management since its inception in 2001. Dr. Nuseirat also worked as a board member in Dubai Institute for Human resources Development. Dr. Al Nuseirat has many achievements in different other areas such as his contributions to the development of the system of Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Excel-lence in Education Performance, the guidelines of Dubai International Award for Holy Quran, and the criteria of Innovation Award for Dubai Shopping Festival. He worked for Saudi Airlines for 27 years and made his early re-tirement when he was General Manager, Bilateral & Commercial Agreements in Saudi Arabian Airlines. Dr. Ayed T. Al-Amri graduated and obtained his M.Sc in Industrial Engineering from King Abdulaziz Univeristy. He had his Ph.D in Bu-siness Process Re-engineering from the Faculty of Engineering in University of Huddersfield in the UK in 1998. Dr. Ayed Al-Amri is the founder of the Saudi Quality Council - we-stern region in Saudi Arabia which is considered one of the most active Quality Societies in the Middle East Region. He Lead a lar-ge number of quality activities and initiatives which include local and regional Quality Conferences, Symposiums, Seminars, Training Courses, Surveys, Quality Awards & Training Workshops Meetings. Professor Eltigani’s Academic and Professio-nal Career spanned over 25 years of continuous dedication and perse-verance to pushing forward the frontiers of knowledge in Quality and Excellence. His notable professional contributions include the major development achievement in Building the infrastructure and criteria of the Dubai Quality Award (DQA) at DED, Dubai which was then selected as the Best Government initiative by the Dubai Program for Government Excellence. In Abu Dhabi he help set up, from scratch, the Sheikh Khali-fa Excellence Award (SKEA) as a major national program for improving the quality performance of both public and private sector organizations.
