FINAL MAJOR PROJECT STATEMENT OF INTENT

    Name: Luke OBrien

    Blog Address: l-obrien1013fmp.blogspot.com

    Rationale

During my final year at university I wish to build a core practice around branding and designwithin the commercial business and culture sectors with a focus on ideas lead outcomes. Ialso wish to build communication skills and interact with clients.

    Subjects / Themes

The themes of my FMP are as follows; visual communication, sustainability, branding design,

print, promotion, communication theory, consumerism, identity, business, aesthetic theoryand semiotics.

The specific subject areas are as follows; visual communication, services, promotion, print, branding, culture, music, fashion, bookmaking and business.

    Design Disciplines / Creative Development

Typography, design for print, printing, branding design, communication, promotion andimage making.

Practical Skills / Workshops what, why and when?

The two core skills I want to develop are typography and image. I want to be able to say I have a

professional level of knowledge in both fields. I want to be able to create appropriate and

innovative responses to briefs through the use of these skills. I want to learn these skills because

they can help to inform and strengthen my overall practice, my briefs in my FMP make use of

both these skills and the only way of improving them is through everyday practice.

Thisassignment is aimed at helping improve these skills through a simple repetition of practice.

At the core of this brief is communication and image making in its most simple an basicform, and in an aim to understand and improve my own personal communication skills.

    Brief 2: Woodblock Type
