The day of 18th February 2011, we , Aimi Bazilah bt Umar and Noratira bt Mohd Zulkifly was

arrived at Anjung Pesona Hotel lobby at 8.00 am for the simulation of the front office at a front

desk. This simulation is the one of our task of assignment in subject Front Office (HH 203). The

first thing what we do was sweep and mop the floor at the lobby area. After that, we listened the

explanation from the practical student about AMP, the system that used to make an

announcement at the hotel. We also get the information about the deposit safety box that was one

of the service that include in any hotel to kept customer valuable items. At the time, we was

learned the ethic of phone call and how to handle phone call from the customer. We also get the

differences how to talk with the people from the outsider and from the hotel.

After that, we was gave one of the checklist for Anjung Pesona counter and we had to do

all the thing that list. First, at the lobby, we need to clean up dustbin then wipe the glass door

and window at counter area. At the reception counter, we had to switch on the light and air-

conditioner, sign the attendance book, check reception log book, wipe all the dust at the counter,

check all the light at the counter are is functioning or not, and other more. When we do the work,

Miss Roshidiana came and gave us the key room of the hotel and air-conditioner remote control

to save. At 9.00 a.m, we was stopped our duty and rush to go the GDS class for the quiz. About

After we came back, the practical student at there as the receptionist was informed us

ranging from single, twin-sharing, deluxe and suite. Only 47 rooms that can be check-in, the four

rooms other was out of order for the long stay. The type of long stay rooms was deluxe room.

The people who stay at the rooms is Head of Department of JPH, Assistance 1, Assistance 2, and

customer the rates of the rooms is not change and same with the price that given, for the staff of

polytechnic the rates of the room will be decrease until 30% from the original price of the

rooms. For the person likes Head of Department, the room price will be decrease until 80%, 7.00

Our first experience

This is the first time for us (Aimi Bazilah and Noratira) in Front Office Anjung Pesona for

simulation. We were so nervous and the same time we were very excited. We came right at 8 am

to live in the front office simulation Anjung Pesona Hotel. At first we were a bit scared because

we were both accompanied by a male student of industrial training. We arrived at the front office

Anjung Pesona Hotel, a student originally from Johor industry that told us to take a bucket and

mop the floor because the floor in the lobby at the front office due to leakage of moist air. At

first we thought into why we have to mop the floor while wearing a blazer and we are pretty

neat, but should do the job of housekeeping. Not only mop the floor, we also wipe the mirror and

take out the trash because of this job is a job for those who work in the front office. Finally, we

are aware of the work in the front office will not only receive calls and receive orders or

complaints, but the work is trivial, we do this is because the work is part of the work in the front

office.

Work from the bottom is a meaningful job. Working in the front office is actually rather

simple as we thought. While on duty at the front office, we had to rush to Bk 1.13 for GDS quiz

given by Sir Kazar. Before going to Bk 1.13, we receive the keys and remote control air

conditioner from Miss Diana. We also have to wait half an hour outside Anjung Pesona Hotel

because there was a lecturer is giving explanations to his students who semester one JPH. We

come in and be the model wearing a tidy front office. After that we visited that there is room to

room in the hotel industry by the student wing of charm that accounted for by Mrs. Zubaidah.

We get the chance to see the rooms for example single bed room, twin sharing, deluxe, superior

and suite. Room Suite is the most expensive rooms in the Anjung Pesona Hotel. We cannot

accept phone calls for room reservations at the front office, because of damaged. Last but not

least, we got experience and enjoyed duty in Anjung Pesona Hotel Front Office. We saw and met

many kind of person who came to front office.

Suggestion and comment

Firstly, many things that needs to be taken seriously. Among them is the need to call the

maintenance work to repair a leaking air conditioner may become more severe. In addition, the

phone is damaged should be repaired as soon as possible so that room reservations can be carried

out as usual and did not interfere with lectures in two floors of office for customers who want to

make room reservations office will be connected to the office of university lecturers.

Next, the front office should have a bell front office like other hotels have to be on duty at the

front office is more alert while on duty.

Computers in the front office should be able to function well so that tasks can be completed

quickly and more regularly. With the computer and a good system to facilitate the procedures in

the front office.
