SAVAGE STREET Church of Christ

Our History:

The Savage Street Church of Christ began on March 4, 1923 at 6th and H Streets. After sometime

Sermons for Today

10:30 Service:

Should You Trust Your Heart? John 14.1

I love those who love me,

And those who seek me diligently will find me. Proverbs 8.17

Wisdom will not fall into your lap. It just does not work that way. Yes, you can pray to God about it, but what He will do is put your in situations where you will have to exercise

judgment.

You Have to Seek Wisdom

Wisdom is hard to find, otherwise, everyone would be wise. Yet, how many people are truly wise? However, if you search for wisdom more than anything you ever have before, you will

find it.

Do not expect wisdom to love you and stay with you, if you do not love wisdom. Loving wisdom means doing the wise thing.

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom.

And in all your getting, get understanding. Proverbs 4.7

Father passed away. Five years later, his mother also died. He is a thankful young man, and it was my privilege to be present in January, when he, along with eleven other of our children, were baptized into Christ.

Six of our precious youngsters from the DKI campus were baptized in January. Though they look terrified in the photo, they were rejoicing. Indians seldom smile for photos. We are thankful for their knowledge and spiritual minds. This is part of our main objective, getting each and every child to heaven, and training all to be mighty workers in God’s church in India.

Sathish (photo) is a very special boy on our DNI campus. Traditionally, most Indians do not hug, but every time this boy sees me coming, he runs to plant his face in my chest and wrap his arms tightly around me. He is a great servant, loved by all of our staff. When he was seven, his

HOW THE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN WERE SPENT IN 2019 The salaries are those of directors, cooks, security- guards and house-mothers. Child care includes clothing, food, utilities and schooling. Let us know if you have questions. God is great!

Because of faith, we continue to press forward. God has given an increase in 2019 far beyond our expectations (Eph. 3:20).

11,997 Baptisms in 2019 269 New Congregations

In January, I met with the brothers to discuss plans for 2020 and to set a new goal. TWO NEW SCHOOLS: In June, two new schools of preaching will be started in Gummidipoondi and Vandiperiyar. Gummidipoondi is located north of Chennai, near the east coast. In this area, souls seem to be receptive. Muthuchristian will be the teacher. Vandiperiyar is located on the west side of Tamil Nadu and more to the south. Arokiyadass will be overseeing the start of our new school in this area and Ramesh will be assisting with teaching and evangelism. KINGDOM BUILDER’S SATURDAY SCHOOLS: With prayers for God’s blessing, we will be starting thirty-four new KB Programs. These schools are powerful tools to strengthen members in the new congregations. ADVANCED SCHOOL: One new advanced school will be established in Daniel’s place in north Tamil Nadu, near the Andre border. VILLAGE EVANGELISM PROGRAMS: Four areas are being targeted around Guntur, where Abraham and Solomon have been conducting a very successful school of preaching. These areas are remote and many denominational people, along with their preachers, are showing great interest in studying the truth. GOSPEL CHARIOT: Solomon and his men have been having difficulty evangelizing in one particular area as it is so remote. Bus service does not continue after dark. Men who are engaged

in Bible studies often get delayed and have to walk through the night in order to get back to their homes. Solomon requested that an auto-rickshaw be purchased for the use of evangelism. I questioned, as I felt a small mini-van would be more functional.

Ninety-seven men attended the two-week Revelation class in January. These men are from the advanced classes. Most of them already have a very good Bible knowledge, as some have been preaching for many years. This was their first opportunity for an in-depth study in this beautiful book. Their teachers also attended. For posterity, the entire ten-days were video-taped, with Santhanraj doing translation. Additionally, my notes were also translated into Tamil and Telegu. This will be a helpful tool for these men to assist them in teaching Revelation in the future.

It was a great time of fellowship for all. During the second week, I designed t-shirts for all of the men. The caption read, “I am More Than a Conqueror (Romans 8:37).”

I am thankful to our God for His word and for this opportunity. I am also thankful for Brother Jim Waldron for his many years of teaching the Book of Revelation in India. His extensive knowledge, along with his research, has been so useful to me.

The men explained that a mini-van would hold twelve men at the most, but they can get twenty-one men in and on an auto-rickshaw. This is one more baffling example of how hard-working and practical these brothers are. I just sat, shaking my head in amazement. The cost of the vehicle will be $5,000, a great investment when working with men like Solomon.

These funds belong to God. Many contributors are widows. Others make sacrifices in order to give. We are mere stewards. We put great effort into carefully monitoring programs, and Cathy provides a detailed report to our elders monthly. She traces every contribution and how it was spent. God has blessed our businesses in such a way that has allowed us to remain self-supported, not relying on the church for our salary.

Wisdom Calls for You “To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart.” – Proverbs 8.4–5 Wisdom is a generous soul. She wants to give you all the wisdom that you need and want. However, you have to hear her call. She cries out to you in the Book of Proverbs. Are you listening to her? Are you simple? She will give you prudence, causing you to be cautious that you might not follow the way of error, but that you might follow the way of God laid out before you. Are you foolish? She will give you understanding, causing you to comprehend things that you could notasee before. You will then know the secret of a successful life. However, you have to listen to her, that is why Solomon wrote the words of wisdom found in the Book of Proverbs. You will not receive a holy zap from heaven, but you have to use your mind and observe what wisdom teaches you.

A Broken Heart God will accept a broken heart, but He wants all the pieces.

Would You Truly Be Content? “He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have.” – Socrates

Cheerfulness You can’t be cheerful until you forget yourself. And you can’t forget yourself until you remember others.

What Leadership Is “Leaders don’t force people to follow. They invite them on a journey.” – Unknown

Are Things Falling Apart in Your Life? “Sometimes when things are falling apart they may actually be falling into place.” – Unknown

Pray for Those Who You Have Feared God in heaven, I have often feared people who meant me no harm. Forgive me for missing judging them. Please bless them that they might you that you are one true and living God, that Jesus of Nazareth is your Son, and that the church is the body of Christ. [Based on Genesis 20.17–18]
