Dear parishioners and friends: Remembering 911…

It is hard to believe that September 11, 2001 was 15

years ago. Like you, I remember exactly where I was when I

first heard reports on that beautiful September morning that a

plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I was in my law

office in Camden, on the telephone with another lawyer. My

secretary peaked into my office, told me what happened, and at

first I thought it must have been the small plane of a student pilot

who lost control. Soon, however, I learned and the world came

to know that it was much, much worse. Looking back after 15

years does not ease the pain or lessen the grief, especially for the

families of the victims. So many lives were lost that day and in

the wars and terror incidents that continue. Today we remember

and we continue to pray for the victims of 911, their families, for

the brave soldiers who fight terror, and for the victims of war and

terror all over the world. This date, 9/11 carries a heavy burden

of memory.

(The Pray below was taken from Old St. Patrick’s Catholic

Church in downtown Chicago)

This day does not pass in the calendar without our remembering.

We remember images of death and destruction. We remember

words our ears were never meant to hear, the tender last words

of husbands and wives who would never embrace again.

We imagine the feeling of emptiness in the arms of children who

at the end of the day could not find mom or dad for their welcome

home hug. We remember our own feelings of emptiness and fear.

We remember the heroism of the many that lost their lives in

saving others. We remember all those who suffered and died, we

grieve for them still, friends and strangers alike, along with their

families and friends.

And it is right that it should not pass from our memory. But today

and in this prayer, along with our remembrance of profound loss,

it also seems right that we give voice to our deep longing for

peace, and with this prayer, commit ourselves to those actions

that will draw us closer to our most ancient and most holy desire,

peace among all God’s children.

Lord, grant us peace. Our Lady Queen of Peace Pray for us.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, Pray for

us. Amen.

God Bless you and your Family, Father Vince

Padre Vicente

Stewards Seek Lasting Values

“Everything I have is yours.” Luke 15:31b

Our Heavenly Father gives His Stewards everything, including

the chance to share in His eternal kingdom. Yet, like the

Prodigal Son we are often lured away by the materialism of our

society. Do we really want to turn our backs on all that God

offers in exchange for a material wealth that has no lasting

value?

Happy Grandparent’s Day! We love and appreciate all grandparents in our community.

Enjoy your day today. God Bless!

Over the summer, our technology company, Green Digital,

installed eight additional Smart Boards in the classrooms with a

technology grant. Ten projectors have been mounted as

well. Approximately 75% of all of our classrooms now house

either a mounted or portable Smart Board replacing traditional

overhead projectors. This interactive board turns a typical

classroom into a fun learning environment for all grade levels.

All students also use iPad applications across the curriculum

and first grade is piloting MyMath, with a technology

component to enhancing the learning experience as well.

Investing in technology will remain a top priority for our school

as it benefits students tremendously outside of the classroom,

in higher education and in the workforce.

Lucky Calendars are Back!

Lucky Calendar winners will be drawn daily from January 2017-December 2017 and will
