Our Lady of Hope This Week

AS WE ARE LOVED AND FORGIVEN BY GOD, WE ARE TO LOVE AND FORGIVE OTHERS

God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to win our salvation and reveal the way we need to live, that we might come to share eternal life in heaven. The teachings of Jesus make it clear that God loves us without limit, and is ever-willing to forgive. Thus, to walk in God’s way of love we must strive to love all people, including our enemies, and be willing to forgive.

2016 FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications

LITURGY OF THE WORD

The first reading recalls Moses relaying to the peo-ple God’s call to be holy by loving one’s neighbor as oneself. The second reading reminds us that we are a temple of God, because the Holy Spirit re-sides within us. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches the disciples that they must love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them.

2016 FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s first reading, the Israelites are urged to love their neighbors as themselves. In the Gospel, Jesus spells out how we are to do that—to give generously to those who ask of us and not to turn our backs on those who seek to borrow.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

A BIG thank you to Tony Bellizzi for an excellent evening for our Level 7 students. He was great, the students were great, the teachers were great! Thank you all! Enjoy the Presidents’ Week break. No classes will be held this week. The Religious Education office will have limited hours. Call ahead for appointments. All classes resume on Monday, February 27. Level 7 will have a group class on Monday at 6:30pm. Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, March 1. Please make every effort to receive your ashes; service schedule is in this bul-letin.

BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASSES

The class for Baptism will be held every other month on the last Sunday of the month at 11am in the lower church. The next class scheduled is March 26.

VIRTUS TRAINING-PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!

Virtus is a program that gives us a specific plan in identifying and preventing child sexual abuse. The training is required of all diocesan personnel and volunteers in all parishes.

If you are a volunteer and still need to fulfill this obligation check the Long Island Catholic or the Diocesan website, www.drvc.org for training ses-sions available in the area. Please register for the class online or stop in the Church office.
