Prayers are powerful and important for those in our parish community who are ill or need our support. We ask you to help us keep the list current by renewing the prayer request weekly and by letting us know when the person has recovered. In an effort to ensure our prayer re-quest list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.

PRAY FOR PALESTINIAN CHRISTIANS We are a pilgrim Church, with specific events that took place at certain locations and points in time. When St. Helena came to the Holy Land to build churches where Jesus ministered, it was easy to find these locations since the local Christians kept Vigil at these spots. We are blessed to have the entire ministry of Jesus documented and commemorated by parishes. We are equally blessed that until today, there remains a Christian Palestinian community bearing witness at these Churches, against all the odds. Let us remember in our prayers these First Christians, who re-main in the Holy Land. The Middle East is in true turmoil, and the Christians are a mere 2% of the population. Please pray for Christianity to survive where it began.

Stewardship by the Bible
DECEMBER 25TH CHRISTMAS Isaiah, in the ancient prophecy, refers to the Christ-child as: Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, and Prince of Peace. St. Paul and the Gospel passages teach us the Child is truly Emmanuel — God is with us. He is the “Light of the World” that pierces the darkness and gives us hope. On this Christmas day, we, as faithful ste-wards, stand in awe of His glory and gratefully praise God for this gift of His Son — our path to eternal salvation.

Lucas 02:14.
“In the Beginning…” 40th Week
Celebrate! Don’t be surprised at how Chris looks after birth. Chris’ head may be mis-shapen and the skin may be discolored with patch looking rashes. Chris, like all ba-bies, is made in the image and likeness of God. Even though childbirth is frightening, it helps to keep positive support people around you. “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace to men who enjoy His favor.” Luke 2:14.

Community Catechesis The genealogy of the Messiah
Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) Week of December 25, 2011
Listen to the Word (Matthew 1:1-25)
What is your response when you hear the story of the Lord’s In-fancy Narrative? What touches your heart?
Look into your life Question for children: Joseph was asked by the angel to trust God, and he did. Do you trust God in your life? If yes, how and when? If no, why do you think it is hard for you to trust God?
Question for youth: What does the name "Emmanuel" mean? Is God with us today? How? Do you make an effort to recognize his presence daily?
Question for adults: Do you consider your sleep an opportunity to say "yes" to God's communication? Do you pray before retiring? Will you make yourself open to his call as you sleep?
Activities for this week Take these activities to further reflect on the Sunday readings: ▪ Draw out a family tree together. Start with children's full names and birthdates and go backwards as far as you can go. If you need to go online and use census records and resources, do so. Try to get full names and birth and if deceased, death records. Discuss the heritage that has been passed down, and the faith legacy received. ▪ Discuss the instances that dreams were mentioned in Scrip-ture; especially focus on Joseph's dream in this Gospel passage. How might children learn to record and study the meanings of dreams? Discuss why your family members believe that God com-municated through a dream to Joseph. ▪ In the readings from Scripture, we discovered that God for-gave Israelites and saved them once again. This would be a good time to discuss forgiveness and second chances. We all make mistakes that we regret, and we don't forgive ourselves as readily as God forgives us. Talk about ways to forgive and forget your own mistakes and learn from them and move forward in your faith. Discuss situations where family members need to forgive them-selves for and how they plan to learn from it and then let it go.
