Dear Parishioners, The Archbishop has asked Fr Noy to work at the Upper Mt Gravatt Parish. Consequently Fr Noy will finish in the Sunnybank Parish at the end of June. We are sad that he is leaving us but we will be able to thank him throughout the month and with a special “Cuppa” after Mass on 27th and 28th June. Fr Peter Gong has been working at Upper Mt Gravatt but he has been transferred to Grovely, so Fr Noy will be taking Fr Peter's place. We hope to have a replacement for Fr Noy in September. We handed out a letter at Sunnybank from the Australian Bishops last week concerning the topic of ”same-sex marriage”. This material can easily be accessed on the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference site. There is a short letter and also a longer brochure prepared by the Bishops, to discuss this topic. Next weekend, members of the St Vincent de Paul Conferences from both our Parishes will be asking your financial help for their “Winter Appeal”. They would also appreciate any blankets to be able to help those who are cold in this winter. The Friendship Group are holding a special morning tea this Wednesday. I was talking to a few people from the Friendship Group as they returned from their bus trip to Canungra last Wednesday and they explained what an enjoyable day it was. The Friendship Group is a wonderful social group who enjoy each other's company and would always welcome new members. Please call Maureen Combey on 3345 6556 for details about this wonderful group. The Archbishop will give the opening address to our Parish Conference on Saturday 1 st August. Everyone from both Parishes are invited to attend the day which goes from 9.00am to 2:30pm. The intention of the day is to enable all of us to learn how to speak freely about our faith to others, whether they are family members, workmates or next door neighbours. This will be a worthwhile day to attend. We are still waiting on the Brisbane City Council to give us the go ahead to expand and refurbish Our Lady of Lourdes Church. We have however begun in a small way our refurbishment. We sent away one of the pews to be sanded down and polished and to have the kneelers renewed. I am very pleased with the result and you can see this pew in the middle of the Church, standing out mainly because of the new kneelers. We have begun! God Bless, Fr Dan OUR LADY OF FATIMA - ACACIA RIDGE COLUMBAN MISSION PROMOTION Our Lady of Fatima Church this weekend host FR GEORGE HOGARTY, a Columban priest who until recently was working in Peru. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ: Year B

Introduction: Today we celebrate the Paschal Mystery embodied in Jesus as giving himself - to the Father as creation’s response, to us as food and drink and in the call to be friends with Him.

First Reading: Exodus 24: 3-8 Moses ratifies the covenant with the Lord through the sprinkling of blood on the altar and the people, a gesture signifying a relationship that was life-giving.

Second Reading: Hebrews 9: 11-15 Jesus fulfils in his person the total gift, by surrendering Himself through shedding his blood. This perfect sacrifice embodies his self-giving love while being the ultimate act of life-giving worship.

Gospel: Mark: 12-16, 22-28 We hear Mark’s account of the institution of the Eucharist, Jesus enacts, in the reality of sign and symbol, His gift of himself for all humanity and to us as our food.

Building the Kingdom Now Date Claimer: Parish Conference Saturday, 1st August 2015

Mark this date in your calendar and keep an eye on the Parish Bulletin and the parish website for more information – details of presenters and registration will be made available shortly.

Why should I attend the conference? Are you asked questions about being Catholic that you find difficult to

answer? Or you are not confident that you can answer? How do you talk about God in today’s society that has really lost its sense of what’s sacred? How can you talk about Jesus in a society that sees no need for God to save us? What

does it mean to say that Jesus is divine? Is God’s presence a reality that permeates all of your life or just some parts of it? People of all ages are seeking responses to these and other questions … do you feel equipped enough

to lead others to responses that are life-giving?

This parish conference seeks to be an opportunity to hear from people who have some expertise in a variety of areas and a chance to share with others who are at a similar place in the journey.

Don’t miss out!
