What “work of darkness” do I need to throw off? What“armor of light” do I need to put on to ensure that I am“awake” and “prepared” for the hour of the Lord’s coming?

Grateful Stewards of God’s Many Gifts…

Do the best with what you have. That’s the time-tested advicethe man in the Gospel ignored when he didn’t make gooduse of his gold coin. (Luke 19:11-28) You have been blestwith at least one gold coin. The gold coin is a beautifulsymbol for the particular gift God gave you to use for thegood of others. It may be the gift to teach, to console, toencourage, to heal or even the gift of humor to make peoplelaugh. Know your gift and put it to use. It would be a greatloss to you and to others if your gift were not known and soremained unused. Lord, help me to recognize my gift, toappreciate it and to use it for the good of others, as you willfor me to do. An excerpt from Living with Christ

We all have gifts and talents, some of us are more blessedthan others and some of us use our talents and our gifts forthe benefit of others more than the rest of us do. It is importantfor us to realize what are gifts our and decide how we’regoing to use them to better serve God here on earth. Wehave all heard this time and again so this is not somethingnew or earth shattering but it is important and has to besaid over and over because for some reason the majority ofus don’t either believe it or take time to act on it. This maysound a bit harsh but it is simply true; are we like the servantin the Luke’s Gospel who wraps his gold coin in a cloth anddoes nothing with it; why? That is a good question. Whatpurpose do we serve on this earth? Why did God createus? Are we here to gather wealth and possessions or arewe here to return to God? We must use our gifts and talentsthe way that God intends us to use them; not for our owngain but for the gain of all. God’s son served others, healedothers, comforted others, are we like him or are we like theservant who does nothing with the gold coin? EncounterJesus, Serve Others

on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 29Pregnancy loss and stillbirth remain two of the most tabootopics associated with women’s health. Holy Sews is afaith-based organization responding to this issue byproducing bereavement layettes for hospital and funeralhome distribution to mourning families at no charge. Weare currently in 151 hospitals and our goal is to be in all ofthe 2,013 hospitals in the U.S. that deliver babies.

With your support, we can, over time, achieve our goal. A$25 gift covers the cost of producing a complete layette. All of the layettes are handmade by volunteers. Whenyou think about GivingTuesday, please think about HolySews. Our Web and donation page is www.holysews.org
