My Dad's Hands
Bedtime came, we were settling down,
I was holding one of my lads.
As I grasped him so tight, I saw a strange sight:
My hands. . .they looked like my dad's!
I remember them well, those old gnarled hooks,
there was always a cracked nail or two.
And thanks to a hammer that strayed from its mark,
his thumb was a beautiful blue!
They were rough, I remember, incredibly tough,
as strong as a carpenter's vice.
But holding a scared little boy at night,
they seemed to me awfully nice!
The sight of those hands - how impressive it was
in the eyes of his little boy.
Other dads' hands were cleaner, it seemed
(the effects of their office employ).
I gave little thought in my formative years
of the reason for Dad's raspy mitts:
The love in the toil, the dirt and the oil,
rusty plumbing that gave those hands fits!
Thinking back, misty-eyed, and thinking ahead,
when one day my time is done.
The torch of love in my own wrinkled hands
will pass on to the hands of my son.
I don't mind the bruises, the scars here and there
or the hammer that just seemed to slip.
I want most of all when my son takes my hand,
to feel that love lies in the grip.

What We Believe
Our Creed Jesus Christ, The only-begotten Son of God Our Plea Unity of all believers in Christ upon a scriptural basis.
The Scriptures condemn divisions as sinful.
1 Corinthians 1:10-15, John 17:20-21 Our Plan To restore the New Testament Church in its teachings, its
practices and its simplicity. Our Purpose The evangelization of the world.
Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16 Our Position We do not claim to be the only Christians, but are content
to be Christians only. We seek to exalt Christ and His
Word above all human creeds, and to lead sinners to
Christ in the clear light of the New Testament teaching
and example.

We are needing to refresh our list of van drivers for FCC.
The van drivers pick individuals up for church / sunday school on rotating monthly basis. Depending on the number of drivers we have signed up, you may only drive a couple of monthly assignments per year.
We need volunteers who have (or would be willing to get) a passengers certification added to their drivers license.

Junior Church is a worship experience especially for children aged 3
years - 4th grade. A greeter will be glad to direct your child to this ser-
vice. 3 yr. olds—Kindergarten meet in the west basement, during the
10:00 adult worship service. Children 1st -4th grade meet in the 3rd floor
youth room (Holy Grounds) except on the last Sunday of the month when
they will be with their parents. 5th & 6th graders will go to the multipurpose
room with their parents for the 10:00 a.m. service. Kids bulletins are avail-
able from the mailbox located near the main entrance of the mpr.
The Lord’s Supper, or communion, is celebrated weekly at the invi-
tation of Christ, who said “Do this in remembrance of Me”. All followers
of Christ are welcome to share with us. We partake of communion individu-
ally as the trays are passed.
The Offering is one way that we give back to God part of what He
has given to us. Our offerings help finance programs within our congrega-
tion, and also support community and worldwide mission efforts. Guests
are not expected to be prepared to give today.
Hearing Assistance Devices are available for use in the sanctu-
ary. The greeters at each door will be glad to assist you.
Bible School classes are available for children and adults, along with
Nursery and Toddler care, at 9:00 a.m. If you weren’t able to attend today,
please take the opportunity on your next visit to study God’s Word with
other Christians. More information about Bible School is available from the
greeters at each entrance.
