Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The green and growing of Springtime brighten our homes, and community as the red and fire of the Holy Spirit nurtures and grows our hearts for love of God and neighbor. The flowers, grass and trees which gird the Manse give Sherrie, the Wilkinson Family and me such joy each day. We are all witnesses to the changing season, the fields being prepared for planting, the animals of our farms back in the fields for feeing and exercise, the fruits of the Earth, nurtured under winter snow, now emerging. As Eastertide evolves into Pentecost and after, I hope this letter finds you also nourished and growing in the Spirit.

This has been a Spring of challenge as well as hope. As a Congregation, a family of families, we have experienced the loss of the physical presence of beloved family members. We have witnessed new life being brought into our midst in the baptisms of children. As always, we have been called by our God to hold joy and sorrow in our hearts as we live fully. This understanding that we are not alone on this human journey, led me to thoughts of Job, and all he experienced as a spiritual being on this common journey. In the Book of Job, Chapter 37, verse 16, Job reflects, “Do you know the balancings of the clouds?” This balancing of the streams and experiencing of our lives is a gift from the God of all, the Ground of all our being.

Recently, as we shared worship on Pentecost Sunday, we looked, with the children at the symbol of our Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), and talked of the Fire of our Faith, the flame of the Holy Spirit which guides us as the Body of Christ. The top of our symbol shows the dove of peace descending, the middle, the open Bible, the baptismal font, and the table of welcome. The foundation of the symbol, surrounding its base is the red fire of the Holy Spirit. We are a spirit-led, communion, connected to all, inspired by the stories of God and humankind reflected in the scriptures, called to be peacemakers, the children of God (Matthew 5: 9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.”).

As we prepare for the late Spring and Summer of our present year, let us together pray for all humankind, and one another, be sources of encouragement and support, and, most of all, lift high the hope of our faith for all, and for ourselves. Grace to you, and peace, Pastor William The Rev. Dr. William Huston Wilkinson

To all my church friends for a happy birthday, including cards, and a cake at coffee hour. And also to my children Terri, Geoff and Mike.

Presbyterian Women and Congregation, Hello and Happy Spring! I haven’t written in a while , so I wanted to say hi and let you all know how I am doing. I certainly hope you are all well. I feel really good. My scans have continued to show nothing. I have another the 2nd week of April. I’m still taking chemo pills twice daily and infusion every three weeks. Infusion really tires me out, but not enough that I can complain about it. My weight is good and I even tend to gain a pound or two every treatment. My family, friends, the incredible staff at Wylmot Cancer Center (at Strong) and yourselves are part of God’s will! Your prayers, thoughts, and faith are not unappreciated by me! I hope it is a prosperous spring for us all! With sincerest love, Jason Anderson

PRESBYTERIAN W MEN

On Saturday, May 20, the ladies of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church invited our PW members to their annual luncheon. Sporting fashionable spring hats, as requested by the invitation, nine PW members joined the delightful party with a lighthouse theme, a delicious lunch of sandwiches, salads and desserts, and a program full of laughter and enlightenment. Nicki Fredericks and Adelia Wilkinson won door prizes. Many thanks to the Lyndonville ladies for their hospitality and to Lynne Ambrose who made three special hats for PW members to wear!

Join us for our next meeting Tuesday, June 7, 6pm, at Anne Albone’s home. The program is “A Birthday Celebration”.

Bring a dish to pass. Rolls, dessert, beverage and table service will be provided.

The Presbyterian Women have enjoyed two events this May. The regular meeting, held at the home of Virginia Roberts, featured Dave Schwert as the speaker. He presented a program on Tupperware, those iconic plastic pieces of Americana kitchenware that also functioned as a way for women to earn money outside their homes. Marketing wizard Brownie Wise taught women who returned to their kitchens after working in the wartime factories how to start their own businesses based on a product used in their kitchens. Each PW member brought a favorite piece of Tupperware to show. Lynne Ambrose baked a delicious cake for refreshments.
