It’s hard to believe we’re only a few weeks away from January 2016! We wish to thank you for your generous contributions to the Employee Appreciation Fund. Our employees look forward to and appreciate the extra recognition for their hard work, especially during the holiday season. January is also the time we’ll be taking nominations for Resident Council Board members at the monthly meeting. Nominations will be accepted at the meeting, voting will take place during the month and then the new board members will be announced at February’s meeting. The Resident Council meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 2:00 p.m., and we look forward to seeing everyone there. To better protect our residents, all Belmont Village communities will be implementing a new front entry, digital, sign-in/sign-out kiosk called Accushield in January. This will replace the sign-in/sign-out sheets and log currently in use at the Concierge desk. In addition to printing a badge to be worn for our visiting family members, Accushield will screen, verify and print badges for health care providers and vendors. Please look for a letter from me that will explain this new system in more detail and invite you to one of our information sessions. Veterans! Just a friendly reminder that Tom Sanders, author and photographer of “The Last Good War,” will be here Wednesday, January 13th, to photograph you. For more information, please see Lucinda Farrah, Activities Program Coordinator. Participation packets are also available at the Concierge desk, which we’re asking be completed and returned to us by Wednesday, January 6th. Please know that while participation is voluntary, with more than 30 of you as veterans, advance preparation will be a key factor to the portrait sessions running smoothly and efficiently on January 13th. We’re also pleased to announce our Veterans’ Portrait Gallery event will be held Wednesday, February 17th. More details will be provided soon! Best wishes for a healthy and happy new year! Donna

NEIGHBORHOODNEWS

December was a time ofholiday fun in the neighborhood. We started the month off bybaking cookies and taking anAustin Christmas light tour, capping off our on-the-townadventure with the spectacularholiday lights at Mozart’s. Wehave enjoyed having familymembers join us forneighborhood decorating andmusic. Speaking of music, a newneighborhood favorite is singerBob Appel who joins us eachThursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.to perform all our favorites with acountry flare. Bob has evenencouraged our packedhouse/audience to join along ashe sings. It’s such a beautiful sightto see our residents singing, asthey know all the words to themusic Bob so carefully choosesand performs.

Circle of FriendsCircle of Friends was busy in

December honoring others. COFcompleted our “adopt a soldier”project, mailing three packages

filled with goodies and gift cardsto ensure Christmas arrivaloverseas. We even included apicture of our group in the box, with handwritten notes ofgratitude. We also surprisedRosemary Galvan, one of ouramazing physical therapists, witha wedding shower. We created theinvitations, decorations and all ofthe party treats. We wantRosemary to know we appreciateall she does for us as she soonbegins her new chapter as anewlywed. We enjoyed helpingdecorate Belmont Village for theholidays, too. We held lengthydiscussions on how to create the“perfect tree!”

As Circle of Friends reflects onthe holiday season, we would liketo thank so many who make itpossible for us to enjoy our daysat Belmont Village. First, to theoutstanding team of ActivityAssistants who challenge us daily.Second, to the PALS who keep usmoving and get us where we needto be on time. And finally, to ourfamilies, who support us in ourCOF program here at BMV. Thankyou all for a fabulous 2015!
