“Therefore I order every man within this universe to

accept this Krishna

consciousness movement and

distribute it everywhere.”

Cc Adi 9.34

“ People are suffering for want of Krishna Consciousness.”

So in this age, it is more important to

create devotees than to construct

temples. My Guru Maharaja advised

me to give more stress on literary

work such as publishing books and

magazines in Krishna Consciousness,

and temple opening is a secondary

consideration.

I am just trying to open some temples

in the Western countries because

there is none.

“I am the only gardener. How many places can I go? How many fruits can I pick

and distribute? It would certainly be a very laborious

task to pick the fruits and distribute them alone, and

still I suspect that some would receive them and

others would not.”Cc Adi 9.34

At the Heart of Effective Outreach.

• Speaker

• Scholar

• Entertainer

• Preacher

“One who gives personal instruction to each and everyone does more for others than the platform speakers do. Generally, whatever platform speakers say cannot solve the problems of everyone in the audience, nor can it always benefit every individual. A person's defects are better rectified in a private tutorial class or private coaching than in hearing lectures in a school or college. Therefore those who instruct particular persons separately can award them something more permanent.”

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura

Strategy.

• Who's the audience ?

• What is the theme ?

• What are the elements ?

• What is the knowledge level ?

Srila Prabhupada’s Strategies

What are the tools and training that is required to successfully implement this aspect of outreach?

MassMovemen

t

. . . . so in that case my request to

you is that you enter into the

universities and colleges wherever

possible and preach there with a

view to recruiting some first-class

devotees for helping me manage

and push on this movement all over

the world. Overall there is shortage

of first-class, experienced men to

manage things just to the highest

standard, as you are doing.

Therefore I am calling upon you the

big leaders to push this idea

forward, namely, to attract some

educated men to join us.

Class

In this way, appeal

yourself to the high

class of men, not

the mass. Mass, too,

we do not eliminate

anyone, but if best

men are there to run

on things, mass will

follow later.

It is our responsibility to recruit these young educated boys and girls before they become spoiled by the degraded conditions of this so-called human society

Results - What do we measure ?

How should we preach to ordinary people?

“Human beings carry a variety of diseases and each needs to be treatedindividually. Unless the disease is properly diagnosed, proper treatment cannotbe administered and the ailment will not be cured. A platform speaker cannot domuch for most sick people. He can give only token relief. I have not foundanyone sincerely interested in Krishna consciousness for forty years. Nowwhomever comes to me is not interested in hearing Hari-katha. They are notready to give up their dependence on their own education and intelligence. Inthis world people like to become popular; they do not like to inquire about theAbsolute Truth. Those who claim to be religious preachers are busy trying toprotect their own existence by flattering others. By speaking and hearing thetruth, one's popularity is unlikely to be enhanced. Therefore, we are notinterested in the sympathy or support of ordinary people who are averse to theLord.”

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura

You have asked me for suggestions of what to say to different persons onSankirtana Party, but there is no specific saying to any person. Whatever wesay we say to everyone. It doesn't matter what is his age. KrishnaConsciousness teaching does not depend on the age. It is the eternalplatform of the soul. This is the meaning of transcendental; that is isbeyond any consideration of material qualifications such as age orintelligence. Just like thunder in the sky does not need any explanation toany old person or to a young child, similarly, the transcendental soundvibration of Hare Krishna and preaching of Bhagavad-gita philosophy will acton everyone, regardless of whether or not they are understanding at first. When preaching you only repeat what you have heard from the disciplicsuccession and this will act.
