BUSINESS PROCESSES SERVICES

OUTSOURCED OPERATIONS LEADS GLOBAL STAFFING FIRM TO BECOME A MORE AGILE COMPETITOREXECUTIVE SUMMARY

At a multi-billion-dollar staffing firm, excessive overhead was affecting competitiveness. Facing pressure from key stakeholders and unable to initially move processes out of headquarters, the client needed a quick way to cut costs around core accounting functions. We built an on-site Business Processes team, composed of contractors and employees, who were able to provide much-needed visibility into day-to-day activities. Once everything was documented, we were able to outsource operations to a more cost-effective location.

THE CLIENT

A multinational, Fortune 500 staffing firm with over 30,000 employees.

THE CHALLENGE

Areas in scope included reporting, general accounting, and financial planning and analysis. Under pressure from stakeholders to become more cost-effective, they needed to develop a game plan within a year to cut overhead, streamline processes, and become more competitive.

THE APPROACH AND SOLUTION

Unable to initially outsource core processes offshore, we had to get creative with our engagement. Traveling onsite, we built the client their own Business Processes team, composed of contractors and employees.

CLIENT: A U.S. subsidiary of multinational staffing firm

STRENGTH: 70 years of experience with billions of dollars in revenue

CHALLENGE: There was limited visibility into core accounting processes and the company was incurring excessive overhead cost

OPPORTUNITY: Document day-to-day operations in order to outsource processes

OUTCOME: Drastically reduced overhead costs through cost-effective outsourcing

Our team was brought into the offices and essentially “downloaded the knowledge” from the existing staff who currently handled the day-to-day activities. The team sat with staff from the Controllers and FP&A organizations, and documented the processes surrounding everything they did, so the information could become both transparent and transferable. This enabled the client to easily outsource work as people retired or moved on. After the initial consulting engagement, because everything was now documented, we were able to help move the processes out of headquarters and outsource them to a more cost-effective location.

THE RESULTS

By providing detailed visibility and access into a set of highly expensive core processes, we were able to outsource the client’s processes and transform them into a more agile competitor.
