TERM 3 WEEK 2 NUMERACY –

OVERVIEW : 5 lessons

1. Consolidate addition and subtraction of fractions with different

denominators.

a. Learning sheets -adding/subtracting fractions with different

denominators (Higher Level)

b. Learning sheets- adding/subtracting fractions with same

denominators (middle/higher Level)

c. Learning sheets – visual addition of fractions (basic level)

2. Understanding Improper fractions mixed numbers (whole numbers and

fractions)

a. Powerpoint -improper fractions

b. Learning sheets – (higher/middle/basic) There are a variety of

sheets in this lesson. Use as required. Some children may work

through these quickly and need further practice at a later stage. Use

as required.

3. Add fractions where the answers will be improper fractions, which require

changing to mixed numbers.

a. Learning sheet (higher/middle)

4. Consolidation of improper and mixed fractions
