    We are throwing out the

    welcome mat for retailers who

    champion causes beyond their

four walls, who embrace a sense

    of the new in merchandising

    and design, and who foster

a sense of place as well as a

    sense of community.

If retail is theatre, well set the

    HUNTINGTON BEACH,

    CALIFORNIA

Some locations inspire in their geography, some in their history, some in

their people, and some in their personality and vibe.

In the case of Huntington Beach, its all of the above.

With the breathtaking Pacific at our doorstep and the energy and ethos

of the surf culture in our sights, we have absorbed the eclectic and

exciting legacy of this special place on the California Coast, letting it

guide us to create a place that honors its authentic roots while creating

a place that feels warm, welcoming, fresh and entirely NEW.

    Thank You, Huntington Beach!

    SURFING BEGINS Polynesians, then

Hawaiians, ride the waves. The rest is

    history.

    PACIFIC CITY bornInspired by the

success of Atlantic City, a group of

farmers and investors decide to build

a new development above popular Shell

Beach, and call it PACIFIC CITY.

THE PIERA wood pier, extending 1,000

feet into the ocean, is constructed.

Storms, a hurricane and an earthquake

destroy it several times, but it is rebuilt

and still inspires as a local icon

    HUNTINGTON BEACHOn July 4th, the

first Red Cars roll into the new city,

    which is renamed Huntington Beach.

Dedication ceremony draws a crowd of

    50,000, and eager customers besiege

real estate agents to buy lots.

    SURF, CALIFORNIA George Freeth

is brought to Calif. from Hawaii to

    demonstrate surfboard riding as a

publicity stunt at the opening of the

LA-Hunting ton Railroad. He surfs at

the HB Pier. The rest is legend.

    THE GOLDEN BEAR OPENSFamed local

PCH Completion of famous Pacific Coast

Highway makes the city more accessible

by auto, increasing its popularity for

    tourists.

US OPEN OF SURFING The first

competition is held, still continuing today.

Fame follows for the city and its historic

    breaks.

SURF CITY Recorded by Jan and Dean,

it becomes the first surf song to reach

Number 1, where it lasts for 2 weeks.
