Boerewors rolls RUSTENBURG - Louise de Beer, the winner of the 2010 Mrs Rustenburg competition and former Rustenburg Herald Miss Show, has once again decided to show her love and support for the community by launching a food parcel project for orphaned and vulnerable children in Boitekong and Freedom Park. The project forms part of Touch Community Network, a Section 21, not-for- profit and public benefit organisation with the aim to care, counsel and equip the community. Touch consists of three interdependent organisations: Neo Birth Care Centre; Neo Life Academy and a Place of Safety. According to Touch Community Network’s brochure “poverty is an abuse on a child’s psychosocial development. While physical abuse might be the most visible sign, a hungry stomach, a sense of not belonging and coping with loss can leave deep and long lasting emotional scars”. Louise has decided to support Touch by helping to collect food and other items for 800 food parcels which will be distributed by Christmas. On the “wish list” are items such as maize, Morvite, beans, soya mince, salt, peanut butter, teabags, sugar and various other products. The estimated cost per parcel is approximately R205. Louise “in touch” with community will be on sale - buy one and get a free draught. So don’t miss out on this event! For more information, contact Lizelle or Belinda on 014-5333 183. “I realise that it might be difficult to deliver food items to my office or the Touch office. Financial contributions are also very welcome and can be made to: Touch t/a Neo Birth; Standard Bank Cheque Account: 0331 342 94; Rustenburg Branch 052646; Reference: Food Parcel Mrs Rtb”, Louise said.
