VFW Commander-in-Chief Vincent “B.J.” Lawrence is absolutely, positively the VFW National Representative to our 98th Annual VFW State Convention slated for June 12-15, 2019. The Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley (formerly Radisson Paper Val- ley Hotel) in Appleton is the site of the annual gathering. We know that B.J. felt very badly that he had to cancel his visit to our Mid-Winter Conference and are DELIGHTED that he will attend the Convention! Equal- ly delightful is the news that National Auxiliary Conduc- tress Jane Reape of Carthage, NY will serve as the National Representative to the 94th Annual Auxiliary Department Convention. Both Conventions will offer a wide range of activities and experiences to complete the awesome “Bridging the Gap” program year of State VFW Commander Gundel Metz and the “Reaching for the Stars for Veterans” year of Department Auxiliary President Laurel Ann Wiese. Tentative agendas for both organizations can be found in this special Conven- tion Section, along with the necessary forms to reserve your place. Once again, there are some modifications to previ- ous Convention scheduling to allow for more opportunities for training and relaxing social activities. As always, schedules are “subject to change”, so be sure to watch for info postings at the Convention site. During the 2010 VFW Na- tional Convention, he joined the ranks of a select few when he was recognized for his dis- tinctive membership recruiting achievements on the Post, District and Department levels by earning the coveted desig- nation of “VFW Triple Crown Winner.” B.J. attended the New Mexico State Law Enforcement Acad- emy, New Mexico Firefighters Academy, and the United States Drug Enforcement Adminis- tration Narcotics Enforcement School. He served his com- munity as a police officer for several years, including time as an undercover agent. Prior to his retirement in 2015, he was a private investigator and owner of Lawrence Investigations. A member of the Military Order of the Cootie and a Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children, B.J. and his wife Mary reside in Alamogor- do, NM.
