Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord .
Today's Gospel Reading proves it to us! It was only after Jesus had been crucified that the eyes of some were opened, they realizing that
Jesus was the promised Messiah, the King of kings.
When hearing the Word of God, we must embrace a spiritual approach. We must prayerfully ask the Spirit of God to enlighten our hearts
so we may perceive the message that is being delivered to us. Today's reading from the Gospel of Matthew has led many in the history of
Christianity to take these passages totally out of context, consequently this leading to the persecution of innocent people.
How many times have we heard that "the Jews" were to blame for the death of Jesus? Am I guilty of the sins of my parents? Are you
guilty of the sins of your grandparents? Are any of us guilty of the sins of our forefathers? Are we guilty of the sin of disobedience of
Adam? Certainly not! Equally, it cannot be said that all the Jewish people of Jesus' time, or any from our time, are responsible for the
death of Jesus.
Was Mary, the mother of Jesus, a Jewish maiden, responsible for His death? Was Mary Magdalene responsible for the death of Jesus?
How about the disciples who loved Him? Certainly not! Those who were responsible for the death of Jesus consisted of Judas who
betrayed the Lord, Pilate who washed his hands, and some members of the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin was a council composed of seventy-
two members from the priests, the scribes and the elders. Through the vote of their majority, not all the votes, Jesus was condemned to
death. Accordingly, because of the actions of a few dozen, Jesus freely underwent suffering and death because of the sins of all people so
that all might attain salvation.
The reason I raise this issue is because as preachers, teachers, parents, we have to guard against the possibility of transmitting prejudice or
false interpretation of scripture as we celebrate the important feasts during the Holy Week. We have a responsibility to enlighten the
minds of our little children who can easily be influenced into believing something that was not said. Accordingly, this week, I ask all of
you who will come in contact with children, and even teenagers, to explore their understanding of who killed Jesus. And if the need be,
allocate a moment to explain the truth to them to secure a continued spirit of ecumenism with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
My brothers and sisters in Jesus, Christ died and lived again that He might be Lord both of the dead and living. (Rom. 14:9) As the Son of
God, He atoned for your sins, my sins, and our sins. He is your King, my King, and our King. During the coming week, let us honor
Jesus, our Lord and God through our active participation in each and every Holy Day of the Holy Week that will lead us to the celebration
of the glorious Resurrection of King Jesus on Easter Sunday

La Lectura del Evangelio de hoy nos lo prueba! Fue sólo después de que Jesús fuera crucificado que los ojos de algunos se abrieron, se
dan cuenta de que Jesús era el Mesías prometido, el rey de reyes.
Al oír la Palabra de Dios, debemos adoptar un enfoque espiritual. Debemos pedir en oración al Espíritu de Dios que ilumine nuestros
corazones para que podamos percibir el mensaje que se está entregando a nosotros. La lectura de hoy del Evangelio de Mateo ha llevado a
muchos en la historia del cristianismo a tomar estos pasajes totalmente fuera de contexto, en consecuencia, conduciendo a la persecución
de personas inocentes.
¿Cuántas veces hemos oído que "los Judíos" son los culpables de la muerte de Jesús? ¿Soy culpable de los pecados de mis padres? ¿Es
usted culpable de los pecados de sus abuelos? ¿Somos alguno de nosotros culpables de los pecados de nuestros antepasados? Somos
culpables del pecado de desobediencia de Adán? ¡Ciertamente no! Igualmente, no se puede decir que todos los judíos del tiempo de Jesús,
o de nuestro tiempo, son responsables de la muerte de Jesús.
Fue María, la madre de Jesús, una joven judía, responsable de su muerte? Fue María Magdalena responsable de la muerte de Jesús? ¿Qué
hay de los discípulos que lo amaban? ¡Ciertamente no! Aquellos que fueron responsables de la muerte de Jesús fueron Judas que traicionó
al Señor, Pilato que se lavó las manos, y algunos miembros del Sanedrín. El Sanedrín era un junta de consejo compuesta por setenta y dos
miembros de los sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos. A través del voto de la mayoría, no todos los votos, Jesús fue condenado a
muerte. En consecuencia, debido a las acciones de unas pocas decenas, Jesús se sometió libremente al sufrimiento y la muerte a causa de
los pecados de todas las personas, para que todos puedan alcanzar la salvación.
La razón por la que planteo este problema se debe a que como predicadores, maestros, padres, tenemos que evitar la posibilidad de
transmitir el prejuicio o falsa interpretación de la escritura al celebrar las fiestas importantes durante la Semana Santa. Tenemos la
responsabilidad de iluminar las mentes de nuestros niños pequeños que pueden ser influenciados fácilmente en la creencia de algo que no
se ha dicho. En consecuencia, esta semana, les pido a todos ustedes que van a entrar en contacto con los niños, e incluso los adolescentes,
a explorar su comprensión de quién mató a Jesús. Y si es necesario, asignar un momento para explicarles la verdad y para asegurar un
espíritu continuo de ecumenismo con nuestros hermanos y hermanas judíos.
Mis hermanos y hermanas en Jesús, Cristo murió y resucito para así ser Señor de los muertos y los vivos. (Rom. 14: 9) Como el Hijo de
Dios, Él pagó por tus pecados, mis pecados, nuestros pecados. Él es tu Rey, mi Rey, y nuestro Rey. Durante la próxima semana,
honremos a Jesús, nuestro Señor y Dios a través de nuestra participación activa en todos y cada Santo Día de la Semana Santa que nos
conducirá a la celebración de la resurrección gloriosa del Rey Jesús el Domingo de Pascua.
