Summoned by God As Christmas draws near, Advent’s scriptures lure us into a world of dreams, signs, wonders, and the miracle of the virgin birth. Too often we allow the great stories of our faith, the ones that are most familiar, simply to wash over us. Today’s Gospel account of the events leading up to the birth of the Lord reads like a present-day soap opera. Yet Joseph’s courage, even in the midst of what must have been an incredibly confusing time, provides a model for us. Each week, we are summoned by God to embrace the way of goodness and truth through the proclamation of God’s holy word. Like Joseph, we are called to do as the Lord commands us. As we stand at the threshold of Christmas, let us have the courage to be open to whatever it is that the Lord will require of us as we celebrate the miracle of Bethlehem. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Bridge to The Future “Refuse no one the good on which he has a claim when it is in your power to do it for him. Say not to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give,’ when you can

give at once.” Proverbs 3:28 Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy please see or call your Human Resources Department. They often require specific forms for you to complete. Wouldn’t it be great to double your gift to St. Anne’s Bridge to The Future campaign? Several area corporations have come to our attention in the past so please check into yours and consider making a contribution and having it matched if you have not already. Thank you!

Your Spiritual Adoption Month 2—Developing Baby—”I’m dancing!” Your baby is making progress developing all of her external features and internal organs. Her brain is functioning at 40 days. Her mother can hear her heartbeat now on an ultrasonic stethoscope. Baby teeth buds are present at 6 1/2 weeks. The central nervous system is functioning and 40 muscle sets begin their first exercises. From this moment, your spiritually adopted baby grows and refines her body. But everything she needs to survive after birth is already present by the end of the eighth week. She is now called a “fetus” a Latin word meaning “little one”. Ultrasound reveals that this little one can now spring, flip and jump—her first dance steps!

At St. Joseph Catholic Academy, even our littlest learners receive Foreign Lan-guage and Fine Arts instruction. This past week SJCA Elementary School show-cased these specialized areas of study with two incredible events:

The International Fest: Sporting traditional attire, eating ethnic food, waving international flags, and most im-portantly, gaining in depth knowledge of countries around the globe, SJCA second graders hosted their Annual Inter-national Fest. In preparation for the Fest, students re-searched countries, created presentations, learned local customs and then, showcased their projects on Friday at this seminal SJCA event. The Kindergarten and First Grade Christmas Concert and Art Show: Celebrating the holiday season, SJCA kin-dergarten and first grade students entertained family and friends with their angelic voices and their creative masterpieces on display. Dedicated to educating the whole child, SJCA understands the importance of providing a broad education encom-passing all disciplines. To learn more about an SJCA edu-cation, please contact Wanda Jaraczewski at 262-654-8651, or [email protected]
